Post Number 1137: Oh, September! A Blast to the Past & the Tutu-ful Present!

Hello, my darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things fabulous and, well, pink! As you all know, I'm Emma, your ever-so-slightly obsessed pink-loving ballerina queen, and it's September! Oh, September! This month feels like a kaleidoscope of swirling autumn colours, spiced cider, and, most importantly, fabulous drag events!

But before we get into the whirlwind of the present drag scene (and trust me, this month has everything), I have a time-travelling tale that's bound to make your eyelashes flutter and your teacups rattle with excitement. This time, my magic tutu whisked me back to September 2014 - oh, what a glamorous trip!

You see, darlings, 2014 was a glorious year for drag. Just think, it was the year that RuPaul's Drag Race season 6 strutted onto our screens and shook us all to our fabulous core! Bianca Del Rio sashayed her way to victory, leaving a trail of glitter and sass in her wake. Such iconic moments, such campy fun!

So, imagine my excitement when I arrived in the shimmering world of September 2014! The air hummed with a buzzing energy that only the best drag performances can create. And what better way to start my journey than with a trip to New York City? You just know that drag in the Big Apple was (and still is!) buzzing!

First stop? A legendary club called "The Monster", which at the time was showcasing some of the best talent New York had to offer. I was absolutely gagged by the queens! So much talent! They were fierce, they were fabulous, and they were absolutely serving face.

Remember, darlings, this was still the age of Instagram - but that didn't stop the drag scene from exploding on a global level! You see, back then, I couldn't just click on a YouTube video to catch a drag performance - so these live shows were everything! The feeling of that crowd energy, of sharing the experience with everyone, that's something I'll never forget.

While I was in NYC, I simply had to pop by a store that was literally dripping in sequins, glitter, and outrageous costumes. It was like stepping into a candy store designed by a flamboyant drag queen. Of course, I went wild! How could I resist, especially with the vibrant fabrics, feathers, and all the sparkle I could ever need?

From the bustling streets of NYC, I took a trip across the pond back to my home country - good ol' Derbyshire! Even in the charming valleys and rolling hills, drag was thriving. The pub was full of queens in their dazzling outfits, the atmosphere positively crackling with laughter, cheers, and even the occasional witty clapback!

This, my lovelies, was the heart of what drag truly represents: community, inclusivity, and a whole lotta love.

My travels took me to Los Angeles next! And let me tell you, the drag scene there was pure Hollywood glam. Queens strutting down Hollywood Boulevard with their massive platform heels, their dazzling outfits, and that unapologetically confident swagger, it was simply breathtaking! I remember thinking "this is drag heaven!".

One thing that really struck me was the diversity on the LA scene. There was such a wide range of talent, personalities, and styles. The creativity was endless! Drag Queens, Kings, Trans artists, they were all coming together in this beautiful explosion of artistic expression!

Of course, I had to sample some of LA's legendary nightlife, and a legendary nightclub called "Hamburger Mary's" beckoned me! A place where drag history unfolded over the years. The stage was electric with the laughter of the crowd and the contagious energy of the performers!

And here I am, back in the present day, still buzzing from that fabulous trip back to September 2014. And trust me, my darlings, the drag scene today is more diverse, more inclusive, and frankly more outrageous than ever!

But this is not a trip into the past to be nostalgic! It's about looking back to see how far weโ€™ve come, how we are still pushing boundaries, and creating the kind of beautiful, inclusive, and glitter-tastic world that we all deserve.

As always, don't forget to rock that pink tutu with confidence, live your truth, and always remember, the best stage in the world is wherever you feel the most authentically YOU!

Until next time, darlings! Stay fabulous, stay safe, and keep on rocking that pink!

With love and glitter,

Emma xoxo
