Before we dive into the world of October 2024, let's have a quick word about my recent fundraiser, darling. This month, I was blessed to be able to wow the Derbyshire crowds with my stunning, all-pink "Barbie in Dragland" show. And you wouldn't believe the support! The whole audience was sporting pink tutus – what a dream! With that fantastic turnout, I managed to raise a good bit to fund my time-traveling tutu...so a massive thank you to all you beautiful people who came along! You know, that's one of the best things about performing...the connection, the laughter, and of course, getting everyone on board with the pink tutu agenda!
October 2024: A Pink Explosion of DragNow, back to my adventures! You see, when my tutu spun me into October 2024, I immediately found myself amidst a veritable drag bonanza. Everywhere I turned, drag was blossoming in a glorious explosion of colour!
New York City was buzzing with anticipation for DragCon NYC. It was practically the talk of the town! This legendary event draws in thousands of drag enthusiasts from every corner of the globe, and this year's lineup was seriously impressive! From iconic drag queens like Bianca Del Rio and Jinkx Monsoon, to up-and-coming stars making a name for themselves, it was clear drag was reaching a fever pitch!
Meanwhile, over in London, a drag sensation was unfolding at the Roundhouse Theatre. "The Ballad of Gingerbread Man", a queer-infused, comedic drag cabaret show, had everyone singing along! This kind of theatre production was taking London by storm and giving drag an incredible new platform for showcasing their artistry! It made me realise that drag wasn't just confined to the stage, it was becoming a powerful voice of the LGBTQ+ community through theatre!
And across the world, from Sydney to Tokyo, to Dublin and Johannesburg, drag shows were exploding in popularity, each one uniquely celebrating its own flavour and local flair. From the high-fashion runway struts in Sydney, to the quirky street performances in Tokyo, there was something magical about each and every one.
The internet was exploding with drag-related content, and the accessibility of social media platforms meant fans could get closer to their favourite drag queens than ever before.
One drag queen who caught my eye was a talented young queen named Honey Bee. Her style? Absolutely spectacular. And her personality? Radiant, witty and oh so sweet! Honey Bee's makeup and performance was something else, drawing inspiration from 1920s Hollywood glamour with a unique, modern twist. She was making a name for herself in the virtual world, posting daily makeup tutorials, and engaging with her thousands of online followers. Honey Bee's online presence reminded me just how powerful the drag world had become, no longer limited by geographical boundaries. It was truly becoming a global phenomenon!
And if there's one thing that was undeniable, the year 2024 saw a fierce celebration of individuality. Queens were breaking all the rules and reinventing what it meant to be a drag queen. There was no single look, no single style. It was a beautiful, messy tapestry woven with colours and textures of all kinds, a testament to the spirit of creativity that lies at the heart of drag.
But there was more to it than just fabulous fashion and flamboyant performances. In October 2024, drag was becoming a platform for activism and social change. Drag queens were speaking out against discrimination, fighting for equality, and inspiring the world to embrace acceptance.
From the legendary Miss Fame launching a clothing line promoting sustainability and body positivity, to the rise of “dragtivists” who were leading protests against hate crimes, drag was becoming an incredible tool for social justice. I was simply overwhelmed by the positivity and the hope that flowed from the hearts of these performers.
I took a minute to reflect. Just as drag had inspired me throughout the years, so were these modern-day drag heroes inspiring a new generation to be themselves, to celebrate their individuality, and to fight for a more equal and accepting world. And all the while, a message of unity was spreading throughout the world. It truly warmed my pink tutu to witness such an impactful transformation.
A pink tutu revolution?By the time I finally pulled myself away from the sights and sounds of October 2024, my pink tutu had gathered more than a few more threads of inspiration! You see, my darling, this trip had shown me just how much the world of drag had evolved. But it also reignited my mission, that is, to bring everyone into the glorious world of pink tutus!
Why? Because tutus are much more than just garments; they're symbols of creativity, freedom, and the unbridled spirit of joy. It was just like the drag I had witnessed, celebrating expression and defying limitations. I was determined to inspire everyone to tap into their inner confidence and unleash their dazzling creativity, one pink tutu at a time!
So my lovely readers, how will you embrace the spirit of pink tutus? Share your pink-tutu ideas and your drag experiences with me at pink-tutu.com!

Xoxo, Emma.
