Pink Tutu Time Travel Blog: Post 1291 - July 2027: Ballet Blast from the Past!

Hey gorgeous girlies, darlings, and fabulous souls! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu-loving time traveler, back with another blast from the past! It's July, 2027, and the world of drag is absolutely bubbling, but you know I love my little historical escapades, so come along with me on a fabulous voyage through time, where the sequins are dazzling and the energy is simply electric!

You see, my darlings, we don't just live in a time of fabulosity - we stand on the shoulders of those queens who came before us. This month, my pink tutu-powered time machine whirled me all the way back to July, 2027. Can you believe it? Just one year ago, the drag scene was...well, let's just say, I've brought you some treasures!

First stop, dearie, London, where the iconic "Divine Divas" show was blowing the roof off the Hackney Empire! Oh my, imagine a show with the divine Miss Honey Dijon, spinning fierce tracks as Asia O'Hara, the sickeningly gorgeous Bianca Del Rio, and the iconic RuPaul themselves - oh the glamour, the attitude, the unadulterated fabulousness!

I could feel the vibrations of a thousand fabulous fans pulsating in that glorious space. Oh, darling, to be back there! Imagine, the roar of the crowd, the shimmering costumes, and that sweet, intoxicating feeling of being surrounded by queens and their adoring fans. Pure joy!

The Hackney Empire - it's just that iconic! I actually bought a little tutu from a street vendor there. Pink, naturally. It’s hanging on my dressing room door as a little reminder of how powerful a place it is. Speaking of tutus, I absolutely HAD to visit the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, darling!

They had this phenomenal ballet exhibit that brought together centuries of stunning costuming, highlighting the delicate craftsmanship, exquisite artistry, and powerful narratives of ballet. It was such a fascinating look into how these performers used their movements and attire to convey emotions, stories, and ideas - which, darling, we queens just know about, don’t we?

This trip had a definite theme, dearie! Fashion, performance, and of course, ballet! This reminded me of one of my absolute favourite designers from Derbyshire, darling - Dame Agnes De Vere! She created this stunning line of tutus for a show last year in Manchester called The Tutu Show! They’re all in glorious pinks, oranges, and lilacs. A must-see for anyone into the fashion. But darling, there’s so much more to it!

Back then, the World Drag Queen Championships were being held in Amsterdam! It was this dazzling, international celebration of all things drag! A beautiful celebration of our art, culture, and diversity. The international drag family coming together from countries around the globe to show off their artistry, their creativity, their talent - it truly was a magical experience!

You see, darling, that’s the power of time travel - being able to immerse myself in the world of drag from every era, witnessing the evolution of style and artistry. And yes, my obsession with the pink tutu, it started from watching the amazing drag queens from back in the 70s who made this simple, yet magical piece a symbol of playful fun and flamboyant elegance.

This month, darlings, my little heart has been fluttering with excitement, anticipation, and a whole lotta fabulous memories. I'm back now, ready to take my next giant leap forward, sharing this beauty and joy with everyone who reads this.

I’m excited to bring the fun to the next World Drag Queen Championship, happening this August, in my very own Derbyshire, darling! Imagine it, all those glorious queens, wearing pink tutus! We need a little dose of colour and playful joy in this crazy world, don’t we, lovelies?

As for me? I’m working on my new show, Pink Tutu Dreams, featuring a medley of ballet-inspired numbers with a whole lotta glitter! It will have you laughing, cheering, and spinning in your own little tutu in no time.

Oh darling, my time machine’s already waiting. I have to run. There's a whole world of sequins and smiles just waiting to be explored, and a new fabulous moment to capture!

Till next month, gorgeous, stay dazzling, stay colourful, and most importantly, stay fabulous!

Big Kisses!

Emma.
