Hello darlings! Your favourite tutu-clad time traveler, Emma, is back with another thrilling voyage through the annals of drag history! This time, we're leaping forward, right into the glittering, glamorous future of April 2030! Can you believe it's been 7 years since our last trip to the 2030s?! Oh honey, time flies when you're busy slaying!
This month, my sparkly pink tutu carried me right into the heart of a bustling London drag scene. Let's just say, darlings, drag has truly blossomed into a magnificent art form in the future! From holographic makeup to sustainable, upcycled drag looks, these queens were truly paving the way for a new generation of fierce fabulousness.
But before we dive into the glorious present, let's have a quick chinwag about where we were back then, shall we? April 2030 marked a truly significant milestone in the history of drag, and it wasn't just the rise of the glitter-infused sustainable fashion.
It was the very first time the 'Dragathon' - a global drag marathon for charity - was hosted! Think of it as a worldwide "Drag Race", darling, but with a charitable heart and a sprinkle of glitter! Each participating city hosted their own marathon, where hundreds of queens strutted, sashayed, and lip-synced their way to raising awareness and funds for local charities! It was a sight to behold, with dazzling costumes, incredible lip sync battles, and an overall message of inclusivity and acceptance! Can you imagine? So many drag queens, so much talent, all united for a good cause! Talk about inspiring!
But darling, it wouldn't be a Pink-Tutu time travel blog without a good dose of Emma's own fashion shenanigans!
Now, my trip wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Glitter Emporium - a sprawling drag superstore where every queen's wildest dreams are brought to life! They had everything from the most exquisite hand-crafted headpieces, to shoes so sparkly, they'd rival a disco ball, to custom-made tutus! But this, darlings, was no ordinary shop! You could actually personalize your own drag outfit, mixing and matching all sorts of amazing fabric, beads, and crystals! Think a glitzy fusion of a vintage burlesque vibe, with futuristic edge! They had an entire department dedicated to sustainable materials, with fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles and plant-based fibers, you know, good for the planet, but fabulously fabulous at the same time! I managed to snag a divine, iridescent cape made from repurposed materials, and let me tell you, it looked absolutely smashing!
Now, my next stop was the legendary 'Future Drag Stage' - a towering, holographic projection theater, offering an incredible 360-degree drag performance! I'm talking lasers, special effects, holographic costumes, the whole nine yards! Imagine watching your favourite queen seemingly dance amongst the stars!
The show I caught featured 'Crystal Viper' – a sensation known for her out-of-this-world performances and a fierce, fierce voice! Imagine, a stunning mix of Madonna with a splash of Kylie Minogue, wrapped in a package of pure, sparkly talent! She blew everyone away with a set of powerful ballads, a few infectious dance anthems, and even a touch of magic - she actually summoned a holographic unicorn that danced right next to her on the stage!
Talk about mind-blowing! I felt like I was transported right into another dimension! They say a picture paints a thousand words, darling, but this wasn't just any picture - it was a holographic reality, filled with such amazing artistry!
But it wouldn't be a Pink-Tutu post without some food and drink!
This future London didn't disappoint in the food department.
The first thing I had to try was "The Glam Donut" – a delicious, handcrafted vegan donut shaped like a miniature, sequined ballgown! Covered in vegan whipped cream, adorned with little edible pearls, and served on a tiny stand - it was simply decadent! Next up was a trip to the "Glimmer & Grubb" – a whimsical eatery with a neon pink menu filled with colorful vegan burgers, fries, and milkshakes! They even had a "Queen’s Feast" – an extravagant buffet with endless options for your vegan cravings,
As always, darling, my time travel experiences inspire me! And, while the fashion and drag performances in the future were definitely beyond anything I could have imagined, there was a definite underlying message of inclusion and diversity.
I met drag queens from all walks of life – LGBTQIA+ community members, trans people, non-binary folk – each and every one of them unapologetically embracing their unique identity, their unique voice, and expressing themselves through drag. The future world really does seem to be a lot more inclusive than my own!
Which brings me back to my goal, darlings! The pink tutu – that symbol of whimsical femininity, fierce fashion, and the power of expression! The drag scene of 2030, was absolutely buzzing with it!
Everywhere I looked, there were queens rocking pink tutus, from delicate pastel shades to bold neon pinks, and each and every one was channeling a distinct energy of fun, fabulousness, and pure, unadulterated drag!
Remember darlings, the only limit to drag is your own imagination. So go on, let loose, unleash your inner diva, and step into the future with a pink tutu in your heart.
