Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveler, Emma, back again for another dazzling drag adventure! This month, I've whipped up my most magical pink tulle concoction and travelled right through the very airwaves to July 2035, and boy, is it exciting! You wouldn't believe what I saw!
Now, you all know I love a bit of drag history. It's the lifeblood of our community, isn't it? The fearless trailblazers who dared to be different, to strut their stuff and paint their faces with the colours of courage. But I must say, the drag scene in 2035 is unlike anything I've ever witnessed!
My journey began in the pulsating heart of New York City. It was as if the entire world of drag had landed on Times Square in one magnificent, sequin-studded explosion. You know how I feel about Broadway, it's practically my second home, so this was pure drag magic. I stumbled upon this amazing drag collective, called the "Timeless Queens". Can you even? I mean, how can you resist a name like that? And their performances were even more extraordinary, featuring time-bending theatrics and costumes straight out of your wildest drag fantasy. It was like a whole history of drag all happening in one show!
But it wasn't all glitter and sequins in the Big Apple. The Time Travellers found me in a coffee shop near the Empire State Building. Apparently, there's this huge online community, the Dragverse, where people can share their experiences of drag. They asked me about my adventures, and when I showed them the time traveling capabilities of my trusty pink tutu, well, let's just say they were gob-smacked! Turns out, some of them even travelled to different times themselves, just through digital portals within the Dragverse. You'd be surprised at the technology we have at our fingertips nowadays.
Next up was a flight to London, a city close to my own Derbyshire roots. My, how times have changed! Forget those dark and smoky bars, now the entire city has become a living drag canvas. Street performers adorned in fabulous feathered ensembles and dazzling neon costumes performed throughout Covent Garden, and everyone was dancing and singing! It felt like a celebration of the human spirit. And let me tell you, the crowds were all wearing pink! Not only pink, but they were all adorned with tutus too! It's so inspiring to see people everywhere adopting the "Pink Tutu Revolution" I started. Now, every corner of the world seems to have embraced pink and tutus. What a beautiful testament to drag's power!
While in London, I happened upon a captivating new Drag School tucked away in Soho, and let me tell you, their fashion sense was a-mazing. The teachers, each one a veteran queen, were instructing their pupils in the delicate art of lip syncing, makeup artistry, and, of course, that essential dance technique - how to spin in a pink tutu while singing Beyoncé's latest single! Honestly, this school had everything. From learning the history of the wig to practicing your fiercest death drop, I can’t think of a better place to hone your skills.
Finally, before the pink tutu transported me back to my little corner of Derbyshire, I had to pop by Paris, the city of love. But, as you can imagine, in 2035, Paris has a whole new definition of love, or rather, "drag love", and there's nothing like it anywhere else! I mean, can you believe it - I found a Parisian café that held a drag tea party, with pastries and the most glamorous cakes you can imagine. They served us tea, then champagne and some perfectly crafted cocktails, and the entire staff was dressed as Drag Queens! It was truly the Parisian chic, the glam, and the outrageous rolled into one. I spent the whole day there, taking notes on their signature cake decorating techniques for my blog and soaking in all that glamorous, love-soaked ambiance.
As I sit here now, sipping my English Breakfast Tea, I can't help but think about how much has changed in drag since my humble beginnings. You know me, always an advocate for the power of a pink tutu to inspire and unite. I think I see a new era on the horizon. Maybe 2035 will go down in the history books as the year when drag, fashion, and the embrace of our authentic selves reached a peak. Or, maybe I'll just start my own drag tea party in Derbyshire and invite you all. We'll have pink cupcakes and tutus, and a big old singalong. Because in drag, darling, the possibilities are limitless!
Till next month, stay fabulous and keep those tutus spinning!
XOXO
