You know the drill, my beautiful darlings, the clock strikes once, the pink tutu shimmers and poof, we're off! This month's time travel takes us to April 2059, just a couple of months before my own dear birthday! Now, isn't that a grand coincidence?! Let's dive right in, shall we?
Drag Around The World: A 2059 Snapshot
Honestly, darling, it seems drag in 2059 is simply fabulous! I'm telling you, the world's gone truly, madly, deeply in love with drag! Everywhere you turn, it's sequins, feathers and more sequins. From London to LA, Tokyo to Sydney, the drag scene is bubbling over with excitement. Even Derbyshire, where I call home, is home to a thriving drag scene, you'll never guess who I bumped into this time! It was one of the sweetest young queens in Derbyshire, who said, 'Emma! We saw you on the Time Traveling Queens Show! We love you so much, you inspire us!'. Oh, bless her cotton socks. That is what makes all this travelling worth it, dear reader, the beautiful smiles and the sparkle in those big eyes! It just brings a little something special to my life.
The thing that really got me was this wonderful new wave of community-led drag springing up across the globe. In London, there are drag events dedicated to highlighting diverse voices. Imagine! Drag for every single soul. Just think of it, queens telling their stories, celebrating who they are, embracing each other's uniqueness. This community-focused drag was just breathtaking. It reminded me of the grassroots drag I grew up with, the spirit of sisterhood and joy that's just... so precious.
And let's not forget about the absolutely fabulous drag balls going on everywhere! It’s a drag-lovers’ paradise, darling, complete with ballroom legends, sassy judges, and dazzling dance moves. One ball in New York even had a category dedicated to 'pink-tutu fabulousness!' The judge had the cheek to ask, "Is it as flamboyant as Emma’s iconic look?" Imagine, Emma, a Derbyshire lass, making it to New York drag legend, that’s what I call an impact!
Fashion in 2059: A Futuristic Fusion!
The world of drag fashion in 2059 was super futuristic. I was especially taken with these holographic gowns, flashing colours and all, and shimmering silver accessories. And let's not forget the bio-luminescent makeup. I tell you, darling, it was like something straight out of a futuristic fairy tale! They really took the whole "drag queen fantasy" to a whole other level. They weren't afraid to play, which is my ultimate fashion mantra, my darlings! Even though everything was high-tech, people were still paying homage to the past. A few gorgeous queens sported reworked versions of vintage looks, making new things from old things, which always takes true creativity, darling. They also kept the old classic silhouettes and experimented with textures. Just imagine a fluffy pink tutu in holographic silver and sparkling bio-luminescent makeup! My head was spinning.

Darling, let's talk about what makes drag so special! What strikes me time and time again during these time travelling adventures is this powerful sense of empowerment. Drag queens are fearless. They’re about self-expression, smashing stereotypes, making you laugh, challenging norms, celebrating diversity. It is truly the greatest, kindest form of activism in my opinion, darling.
You know how much I adore all things ballet, so seeing all those gorgeous queens twirling, pashing, and stunting on that stage! Magnificent! Even though things change over time, this message remains constant: drag queens are powerful storytellers and artists who celebrate acceptance, love, and unity.
A Little Time-Travelling Trivia
Want to play a fun game, darlings? It's time for Emma's Drag Trivia Challenge! In 2059, it was decided that... wait for it! ... April would be *"International Drag Appreciation Month" *. Can you imagine, my darlings? That’s the kind of energy I want to bring into our time! You bet your tutu that’s what my pink-tutu loving heart aims for.
Speaking of pink tutus, my favourite thing about 2059 was that I found the most adorable little pink tutu boutique called 'The Tutu Emporium'. All pink everything, darling, all day long! They had every type of pink tutu imaginable! Seriously, it's was a dream come true! If only I could sneak one of those glorious pink tutu-making machines back to my time.
