Pink Tutu Travels: 09 September 1702 - A Whirl Through Time with Emma!

Hello darling darlings, and welcome to the 501st post on Pink Tutu Travels! September always feels like a new beginning, don't you think? And today's adventure has taken me all the way back to 1702, and what a time it's been!

As usual, my trusty steed Magic Meg - a shimmering pink Shire horse with a flowing white mane and tail, and golden hooves (oh, don't we all just adore a bit of sparkle!?) - took me on a thrilling journey. My backpack, brimming with excitement and a little bit of pink tulle (one can never have too much, can one? ), is ready to be filled with treasures from the past.

So, what was the ballet scene like back then?

A Grand Opening and a Glimpse of Ballet's History:

Turns out, 09 September 1702 was quite a day for ballet! Imagine this - The Theatre Royal Drury Lane was opening its doors in London after being rebuilt. Talk about a fabulous affair! It's almost like they built the whole place for ballerinas - well, for dancing, anyway!

While ballet hadn't really hit its stride in England yet, across the Channel, French ballerinas were already causing a stir. Imagine tiny, pointed shoes and delicate steps. My toes are itching for a glimpse!

The Birth of "La Princesse Galante":

The year 1702 saw the very first performance of a little known ballet masterpiece called "La Princesse Galante". This exquisite creation is by Jean-Baptiste Lully, and I just know it would have been delightful. There are whispers of flowing gowns, delicate movements, and music that simply took everyone’s breath away!

Oh, and did I mention that this ballet had the most opulent costumes? I'm already dreaming of a pink satin gown and a shimmering gold crown! Imagine, my dears, the grandness!

Time Traveling Tips from Emma:

My travels have taught me that, back in 1702, the world of dance was taking its very first steps. But remember, dear readers, every new beginning is a beautiful thing! We just need to nurture those steps with passion and elegance!

When time traveling through ballet's history, remember these two essential tips:

  1. Embrace the Sparkle: It’s all about that glamour, darling. Be sure to pack your brightest smile, and maybe a touch of pink in your hair.
  2. A Dash of Grace: Carry yourself with grace, just like those French ballerinas. A slight tilt of the head, a delicate turn, and a sweet, "good morning!" will melt hearts wherever you go.

    And Remember...

For me, every day is a celebration of ballet, a whirl of tutus and a sprinkle of magic! The story of ballet, my dear readers, is one we must tell again and again. We may be in different eras, but our love for this art form, for the graceful dance, will never fade.

Next month, we’ll journey to a new corner of time. I hope to see you all at www.pink-tutu.com for another dose of ballet-infused adventures!

Until next time, remember to twirl, spin, and never, ever stop dreaming in pink!

Emma

(P.S.) Be sure to catch my ballet performance next weekend at the Derbyshire Arts Centre. All proceeds are going to help fund my time travels and, of course, a new collection of pink tutus! You're in for a treat! See you there, darlings!)
