Pink-Tutu.com: Blog Post #837 - A Grand Day Out in 1730 with Magic Meg! πŸ©°πŸ’–

Hello my lovely pink tutu-wearing darlings! It's your favourite Derbyshire girl, Emma, back with another exciting time travel adventure for your delectation.

This month, my trusty pink sparkling steed, Magic Meg, and I galloped all the way back to 1730! Oh my goodness, the outfits! The hairstyles! And don't even get me started on the cobbled streets... Oh, the mud! But hey, a little bit of dirt never hurt anyone, especially when you're dressed in the most glorious pink tutu, and have a trusty pink sparkly shire horse with golden hooves at your side. πŸ˜‰

It's always such a thrill to immerse myself in different eras, but what really made this trip truly special was the chance to experience a truly exciting historical moment in the world of ballet! You see, dear readers, on 9th September, 1730, a rather significant event happened in the world of dance... but more on that in a minute!

Firstly, allow me to paint a picture of the vibrant London scene back then. As we ambled through the streets, Magic Meg's hooves clattering against the cobblestones, I felt like I was stepping into a history book! The hustle and bustle of daily life, the sounds of vendors calling out their wares, and the laughter and chatter of the people all felt utterly enchanting. The houses, oh so charming with their quaint brickwork, gave off such a welcoming air, almost inviting us to step inside and partake in a spot of tea.

Now, to the reason we really came! This September 9th, a most impressive ball was thrown at the palace of Lord Burlington! Just imagine, my dears, waltzing through magnificent halls adorned with gilded chandeliers and fragrant with the scent of lavender! I just adore those historical dance moves, so elegant and stately, yet bursting with passion. Oh, how I long to gracefully sweep across the ballroom floor, my pink tutu swirling around my legs!

But, of course, as always, I didn't forget the most important part - documenting this historical adventure. This time, my rucksack overflowed with snippets of gossip from the time:

  • The biggest news: the upcoming performance of a ballet featuring the famous, yet tragically young, Marie SallΓ©! She's considered an icon, an innovator of dance, who dared to perform in a dress resembling a Greek tunic - such a bold move at the time! This new, simpler style of costume truly sparked a revolution in ballet attire, allowing for greater freedom of movement. Can you imagine the whispers and gasps as she pirouetted onto the stage, a graceful figure draped in simple flowing garments?

  • Another snippet: a famous actress, named Anne Oldfield, wore a pink silk dress and a very impressive pink and silver, ostrich feather adorned headdress, and let's just say, her pink ribbons tied to her hair? Chef's kiss. Absolutely fabulous! Such an inspiration for the "Pink Tutu" aesthetic! I bet those ribbons could give my tutus a run for their money!

  • The world of ballet was in a bit of a tizzy this time. They're debating the merits of traditional ballet with those fancy "new-fangled" styles like "comΓ©die-ballet". Such lively debate, almost as exciting as watching my favourite dancers on the Royal Opera House stage!

My lovely darlings, you simply must get yourself to a theatre. It's the ultimate experience. I love attending shows at my local theatres - The Derby Playhouse and the Attenborough Arts Centre - where they put on a splendid mix of traditional and modern productions. It's always so inspiring to see the way dancers express themselves through movement and emotions. And don't forget, dear readers, always bring a pink tutu! A bit of extra colour can really transform any performance, making it all the more exciting and joyful!

And so, my pink-loving darlings, our journey through time comes to an end. But, never fear, as Magic Meg and I are already planning our next time travel adventure. Where we go, what stories we find, and what new fashion inspirations I gather - that remains a secret, for now. However, you can rest assured, it will involve a whole lot of pink tutus, gorgeous ballet performances, and, of course, some serious fashion-forward fun!

Until then, my darlings, keep those pink tutus twirling, and don't forget to visit the www.pink-tutu.com website for my upcoming posts and updates. Love, Emma x
