Blog Post #2034: June 6th, 1830 – A Step Back in Time with Magic Meg
Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, back with another exciting post from the Pink Tutu Time Traveller Blog! This month, we're galloping back in time to a truly magnificent era: 1830! As always, Magic Meg and I have packed our pinkest tutus and sparkly smiles for an adventure through history, with my leather rucksack ready to capture all the beautiful ballet bits and bobs I find!
Today, we’re journeying to the bustling heart of Paris, the capital of elegance and creativity! This vibrant city is overflowing with excitement, especially within the world of dance. Imagine, dear readers, the exquisite grandeur of the Opéra de Paris, a stunning monument to artistic expression!
Let's peek behind the velvet curtains to uncover the magical stories waiting within! On this very date, 6th June, 1830, the illustrious ballerinas of the time would have graced the stage of the Paris Opéra, showcasing their unparalleled skills. Imagine the exquisite movements, the twirling, leaping, and elegant extensions. Can't you just picture those perfectly shaped legs and flawlessly balanced leaps, performed with such captivating grace? This would have been the world of famous ballerinas like Marie Taglioni - who, incidentally, will later become a real-life icon of the time! It makes me long to take a trip through the past and dance alongside those magnificent dancers.
I also couldn’t resist checking out the new fashion being sported in this fashionable city! Can you believe it, dear readers? Pink tutus are all the rage here too, even back in 1830! Imagine the excitement: all shades of pink are being seen, from the softest blush to the boldest magenta! This perfectly matches the colour palette of Marie Taglioni’s tutus – a vision of flowing pink silk, it must have been divine!
And, oh! Don’t even get me started on the ballet footwear of the time. The ballerinas were experiencing a period of transformation in dancewear! Imagine pointed toes in soft leather slippers, creating a vision of pure delicate grace! What a dream! I immediately had to add a few pairs to my collection!
But let’s not forget, Paris in the 1830s was more than just a ballet scene! There's so much more to see from this exciting period, and, believe me, my darling readers, I just can't resist a bit of shopping! The markets are teeming with beautiful fabrics, lace, ribbons, and exquisite silk! I couldn't resist adding a stunning pink satin fabric to my collection to re-create my very own Marie Taglioni inspired pink tutu!
Now, I can almost picture myself twirling and dancing in the heart of Paris while the streets come alive with a gentle waltz. Oh, my lovelies, isn't it wonderful to travel through time and experience these captivating moments?
*Let’s continue the dance, shall we? *
*Until next month, remember to always wear your pink tutu with a twinkle in your eyes! *
Love always,
Emma xx
