Post #2448: December 12th, 1864 - A Pink Tutu in Paris! 🩰💖🇫🇷

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your time-travelling ballerina, and I'm bursting with excitement about this month's trip! As you know, my love of ballet transcends time and space, and this month we're landing in the bustling heart of Paris - on December 12th, 1864, to be precise!

Magic Meg, my trusty pink sparkling Shire steed, is pawing the ground with anticipation as we prepare to leap into the past. Her golden hooves are gleaming in the afternoon sun, and her white mane and tail are flowing like silk. This pink tutu, I’m wearing a fabulous cherry blossom pink silk tutu for today, is absolutely perfect for a Parisian adventure. You know me, always aiming for that perfect colour clash against the cobbled streets and grey stone buildings.

As I always say, history's best kept secret is hidden amongst the ballerinas! While you may think you know ballet history, my little adventurers, there's so much to discover beyond the well-known names. I'm talking about the lesser-known ballets, the vibrant dance trends of the past, the behind-the-scenes stories and those groundbreaking figures who didn't get the recognition they deserved!

Today, December 12th, 1864, is extra special as it’s the premiere of a ballet by none other than the legendary choreographer Marius Petipa! It's a beautiful tale called Le Roi Candaule – and let me tell you, it's got me dreaming of twirling on the Parisian stage. This ballet's about a love story with twists and turns. Petipa's a maestro of narrative ballet - think passion, intrigue, and even some daring political satire thrown into the mix. What could be better?!

I’m bursting to see it – imagine the opulent costumes, the drama, the emotions – it will be an experience to cherish. My heart is already racing just thinking about it. Of course, my leather rucksack is ready to capture every precious detail, every whispered rumour and every stunning dance move - these will all be stored to share with you in my next blog post!

But Paris is more than just the Grand Opera! While we're here, we'll be taking a stroll around the grand Parisian boulevards, soaking up the city's vibrant atmosphere, and indulging in some delicious Parisian pastries - nothing goes better with ballet than a little decadent treat, right?!

My pink tutu's getting me all the attention too! From the elegant ladies in their fine silks to the charming gentlemen, everyone’s smiling, everyone’s curious – just look at them! You see, a pink tutu's an instant icebreaker, opening doors and weaving through the bustling crowds of Paris – my way to inject a little bit of fairytale magic wherever I go! I can’t tell you enough, lovelies, a pink tutu's an invitation to joy, laughter, and a dash of whimsy – it’s a reminder that life's a stage waiting for our most fabulous dance.

Today’s post is just the beginning. I've got so much more to share - I’m talking about fashion, costume trends, Parisian cafes and a whole lot more ballet adventures.

Stay tuned, darlings. My next post, on www.pink-tutu.com, is going to be filled with stories, images and even videos!

Until then, stay fabulous and dance on, you glorious bunch!

Yours, always, Emma 💖💖💖
