Pink Tutu Time Travels: Post #2913 - September 9th, 1903

Hello, darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, your portal to the most delightful and whimsical time travel adventures through the captivating world of ballet. I’m your devoted time traveller and pink-tutu enthusiast, Emma, back from another thrilling trip, this time landing right smack in the middle of September 9th, 1903!

This month’s journey took me to a bustling London town. My trusty steed, Magic Meg (she’s a pink-sparkling Shire with golden hooves and a flowing white mane and tail – truly the most magnificent pink steed you ever did see!), navigated the cobbled streets with a grace I could only dream of achieving in my own dancing. I confess, the aroma of horse manure was a bit overpowering, but it was nothing a good spritz of my lavender-infused perfume couldn’t fix.

As always, my leather rucksack, adorned with dainty pink bows, was ready to collect historical treasures - this month, a vintage copy of "The Book of the Dance" by Cyril Beaumont (an absolute must-have for any budding ballet historian!), a delicate embroidered ballet slipper, and a hand-drawn sketch of Anna Pavlova in a particularly fabulous performance. The drawing is just breath-taking – her effortless leaps, the exquisite detail of her costume, the sheer power in her every movement. You just knew she was destined for stardom. And you know me, darling – I’m always after a little inspiration!

Speaking of stars, wouldn’t you know it, London was abuzz with talk of the "world-famous" ballerina, Anna Pavlova! It appears she was about to grace the stage with a tour of her newly-choreographed ballet, “Giselle” - oh, how I wish I’d been able to catch a glimpse of this masterpiece. Alas, alas, I was only just on the periphery of history this time, merely a blip in the timeline! I did however hear tell of her stunning performance, the exquisite costumes (so chic, and a bit of a nod to the Belle Epoque – what fabulous fashion!) and of course, her dancing, which everyone seemed to agree was breathtaking, truly magical.

Now, don’t fret darlings! My little journey wasn't just about ballet - a ballet time traveler always finds an excuse for a spot of shopping, after all! On this particular afternoon, I popped into the “New Gallery” and gawked at the latest gowns from House of Worth. Oh my word, the fabric, the colours! The ladies there, looking ever so stylish with their feathered hats and frilly parasols, would have made a ballet dancer envious, they had so much panache. The fashion is what really drives me back to these times - there's an inherent, undeniable sense of glamour and artistic flair. And who knows, I may just see if Magic Meg could help me find a few hidden treasures to take home with me – after all, what is a ballet girl to do with such extraordinary opportunities for vintage finds!

So, darling friends, do you have your own pink tutus ready for the autumn season? Remember, a pink tutu is more than just a fashion statement; it’s a symbol of joy, creativity, and boundless energy! This month, channel your inner Pavlova and practice those pirouettes, embrace the beauty of ballet, and remember - the world's your stage, ready for your elegant performance. Stay tuned for the next exciting installment, and until then, keep dancing!

And as always, don’t forget to check out the rest of the www.pink-tutu.com blog for your daily dose of all things ballet - ballet fashion, ballet history, ballet shows and even ballet street performances. Let's get everyone twirling!

See you next month!
