Pink Tutu Time Travel: 2nd February 1965 - A Ballet Bonanza!

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, here! I'm absolutely buzzing to be back for Blog Post #3650 - and this month, we're heading to the fabulously glamorous 1960s, landing on a crisp, bright 2nd February, 1965! I have to say, it's feeling very exciting here. The 60s were a time of real change in the world, but I am also getting an exciting whiff of a change in ballet, too! I just love the excitement and creativity of those years.

I know I say this every month, but my time travel wardrobe is just brimming with options! It's honestly like walking through a chic, pastel-hued dream. Today, however, the weather is crisp and cold so I have layered up with my favourite chunky knit and popped on a gloriously oversized cream scarf, giving it a vintage touch with a dainty pin featuring a ballerina on a swan. Now, you know how much I love colour, but my beautiful, sassy, pink tutu was feeling a little too exuberant for the weather today! Luckily, I've brought along a gorgeous pair of silk, floral ballet shoes that complement my scarf perfectly. It just goes to show that being fashionable needn't break your ballet budget! I even snuck a peek in my trusty leather rucksack, which is overflowing with incredible memories, and found a wonderful old photo of Margot Fonteyn herself, a true style icon! You simply have to have a bit of that Fonteyn sparkle, darling!

Speaking of sparkle, just like last time I need to mention Magic Meg - the love of my life, the pink shimmering shire horse that allows me to journey through time. With her pearly white mane and tail, and golden hooves that twinkle in the sunlight, she is the ultimate glamourous ride for a girl with an endless passion for ballet and the most fantastically fabulous pink tutus you've ever seen. Oh, she just makes this journey a real hoot! We gallop, skip, and dance our way through the eras, and I’m quite certain she feels the thrill of these journeys as much as I do.

So, what's on in the ballet world on this day? It’s truly the crème de la crème, darling!

We’ve arrived in London just in time to catch the premiere of "Giselle", and, by the way, I’m quite the gossip. Have you heard the whispers of what’s in store? It's a full-length ballet production from The Royal Ballet, and they’ve added a beautiful new element, a choreography by Rudolf Nureyev himself. I’ve seen him perform at a gala and oh darling, the man is magic! Such skill! But the excitement doesn't end there - Natalia Makarova will be gracing the stage, dancing the role of Giselle, paired with David Wall, one of the most talented dancers in England, they are sure to steal the show!

After the grand spectacle of the evening, my dear Meg will gallop us away into the twilight, and into our next adventure. Imagine it, the streets of London, the crisp air, the rumble of carriages, a pink-hued tutu, a shire horse, and the music of "Giselle" echoing in the air. Pure magic!

While I can't promise to take you all time-travelling with me, darling, I can help you catch that ballet sparkle! So grab your nearest friend, pop on a pink tutu (or, you know, whatever makes you feel fabulously radiant!), and head to a ballet performance near you. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Remember to follow me on www.pink-tutu.com! It's a joy seeing your beautiful pink tutu photos, and hearing about your adventures.

See you next month! Xx Emma
