Hello darling dears and welcome to another instalment of my monthly Pink Tutu Time Travels! I'm Emma, your resident ballet enthusiast and, as you know, I love everything pink, tutus, and of course, the history of this most graceful and enchanting art form. So grab your favourite pink lemonade, a sprinkle of fairy dust, and get ready for a dazzling adventure!
September 17th, 2017. My oh my, how the world has changed! As always, I’ve been diligently poring over my vast collection of ballet history tomes, carefully weaving together threads of the past, and oh, what a story we have this month!
I must say, darling, the energy of this era felt absolutely electrifying! A new wave of creative innovation was rippling through the dance world. The stars, like the magnificent Misty Copeland, were bursting onto the stage with bold interpretations of classic ballets, and I'm so proud to say, their tutus were practically begging to be seen on every single ballerina in the world!
Speaking of tutus, mine was positively shimmering, a dream of softest pink tulle. It's a lucky thing, this little number; it seems to have a magical quality of seamlessly blending with any era, even a world of social media, high-tech advancements, and daring fashion. Now, to take you on a little trip through my journal...
From Derbyshire to the Big Apple
Let me tell you, hopping onto Magic Meg this month felt truly exhilarating. This dear creature, with her glorious mane, golden hooves, and a heart full of sparkle, makes travelling through time such a delightful experience! Our first stop, naturally, had to be New York. That bustling city just pulsated with artistic energy. It felt a tad overwhelming to this Derbyshire lass, but oh so very exciting!
In New York, the air vibrated with dance! The sheer variety was truly breathtaking! You could experience classical ballets like Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake alongside contemporary performances with captivating new narratives, such as the powerful “Black Swan.” The iconic New York City Ballet held its Annual Fall Gala, a vibrant explosion of talent and tradition. Just picture, darling, hundreds of people, all adorned in elegant dresses and suits, sipping champagne and soaking in the spectacle.
A Glimpse of London's Grand Stages
But what’s a ballet journey without a stop in London? I wouldn’t dream of missing the Royal Opera House, that hallowed haven of artistic brilliance! This season was a feast for the eyes, with classics like "Giselle" taking centre stage alongside new interpretations and captivating modern works. Even a touch of whimsical magic, with "The Sleeping Beauty" reminding us of the timeless enchantment of ballet. The costumes, darling! The colours! The sheer opulence and grandeur - all wrapped up in graceful steps and heart-stirring narratives! It left me wanting to twirl through every single stage!
Back to My Favourite Pink Fashion Finds
My dear friends, I must tell you, this month's journey provided me with so many new ballet fashion gems to add to my growing collection! Oh, those exquisite, flowing tutus, some in soft silk, others a touch of sparkling sequins! From the classical ballet to the modern creations, I had a feast of fashionable inspirations. I even spied a pair of stylish pink pointe shoes with glittering, iridescent sparkles. Just imagine, darling, wearing these beauties as you pirouette under the stage lights, each move a tiny flicker of glittering light!
Now, my precious darlings, I'll leave you with this: embrace the wonder, the creativity, the sheer delight that ballet offers. And why not unleash a touch of pink tutu magic in your own life? Be brave, darling. Put on that tutu and let your spirit fly! Until next time, remember, there's always something magical in store when you follow your passion for pink tutus and timeless dance!
With twirling love,
Emma xx
