Itās May, and London is awash with the bustle of the Spring season! We are still in the age of the bustle, with the ladies embracing an exaggeratedly rounded silhouette thanks to that amazing invention, the (you guessed it) bustle. Fashion has become all about emphasizing curves and adding that bit of dramatic flare to everything! You'd see full, billowing skirts with tiers of delicate ruffles and ladies draped in beautiful flowing fabrics that made them resemble Grecian statues, yet with that signature bustle making a grand appearance at the back!
Now, imagine our leotards in that world, darlings! You can just picture those gorgeous silks and velvets paired with the snugness of a perfectly cut leotard! You would look positively enchanting! Of course, back then, leotards werenāt known as we know them today! Ballet was in its early days in England, so dancewear would have been simpler - perhaps a silk camisole and a light, flowing skirt or even just a bodice with leggings. As Iām a ballet fan myself, it's always a thrill to watch the ballerinas on stage and feel that sense of movement and grace!
