Imagine the views from that tower - you'd see Paris in its full, gloriously fashionable glory. And guess what? The Eiffel Tower became the backdrop to the Grand Exhibition Universelle of 1889! Now, while the tower was undoubtedly the main attraction, this exhibition was the ultimate spectacle, attracting millions from across the globe to see the best that the world had to offer. It was like stepping into a giant world's fair – an explosion of innovation and artistry, a display of mankind's most dazzling creations. And let me tell you, the leotard, dear reader, was certainly not excluded from this dazzling exhibition.
While there might have been a few leotards fluttering around the Grand Exhibition - possibly some gymnasts or perhaps a daringly dressed fashionista! - let's take a trip to the ballet theatre for the real spectacle. The iconic Russian ballerina, Anna Pavlova, who graced the stage with the ethereal beauty of a willow swaying in the breeze, was already making her mark on the dance world.
And I can only imagine how glamorous her costumes must have been, the leotard the core of it all! The passion and emotion exuded by those dancers was palpable - the kind that takes your breath away and sends shivers down your spine.
