Post Number 693: September 9th, 1916 - A Parisian Waltz!

Hello lovelies, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It's Emma here, and I'm so excited to be back with you after a rather thrilling trip to the glorious, vibrant city of Paris in 1916!

You know me, a bit of time travel is always on the cards, especially if it involves exquisite fashion and an elegant dance. This time, I decided to slip into my shimmering pink, magical time-travelling leotard (oh, I simply adore the sparkle, darling!) and twirled through a portal right into the heart of 1916 Paris.

Now, the Parisian fashion scene was something else! A world of elegant, long, flowing gowns, adorned with decadent feathers and lace. I must say, my little pink tutu did stand out a bit – I almost felt like I'd stepped straight out of a charming, whimsical fairytale!

Parisian Perfection

As I stepped onto the streets of Paris, I couldn't help but notice the incredible craftsmanship of the dresses and the impeccable sense of style everywhere I looked. I felt inspired by the elegance and creativity that permeated the Parisian air!

I was keen to soak up all the inspiration, so I waltzed straight to a charming boutique. Inside, racks overflowed with beautiful garments. But what truly stole my heart was a selection of ballet shoes. My eyes widened at the delicate pointe shoes, meticulously handcrafted with such skill. Their pink satin shimmered like a beautiful dream. Oh, how I wished I could've snatched them up for my own collection!

A Grand Performance at The Folies Bergère

I wanted to truly experience Paris and immerse myself in its vibrant cultural scene, so I booked a ticket for a show at the famed Folies Bergère. Oh, it was absolutely incredible!

Imagine a grand stage bathed in a sea of colours. A spectacular show was unfolding, full of talented performers captivating the audience with their elegant costumes, incredible dance skills, and daring acts. I watched, spellbound, as the ballerinas gracefully glided across the stage, their movements graceful, expressive, and mesmerizing. Their costumes were utterly stunning, showcasing intricate details and beautiful lines, while showcasing some of the earliest ballet leotards – simple, sleek and in classic black.

These early leotards provided a glimpse into the evolving dancewear, highlighting how function and elegance were coming together beautifully in the world of dance fashion. This particular style reminded me so much of the elegant, understated look of ballet back in the days when Marie Taglioni gracefully charmed audiences with her dancing in the 19th century. It's so lovely to see how fashion is an echo of the past, and also, so influential in shaping new trends.

Sharing Inspiration – Bringing the Paris Flair Back Home!

The energy in Paris is just so infectious, it makes me want to dance on streets and jump for joy with excitement for all things fashionable. After a day filled with sights and performances, I returned to my time travel portal. My head brimmed with creative ideas and a newfound admiration for the classic elegance of Parisian fashion and ballet costumes. You can bet I’ve got my notepad overflowing with ideas for my next tutu designs!

I must tell you, the trip back to 2023 in my twinkling leotard made me want to wear a beautiful white satin tutu every single day.

I'll definitely be sharing more of my time travel adventures with you, darling, as I discover all sorts of fashion history and learn all about the fantastic, elegant and fun dance styles from around the world.

So until next time, be sure to keep twirling, dancing and looking your absolute best. After all, my darling, we all deserve a little bit of sparkle!

Lots of love and glitter,

Emma xx
