At the Sadler's Wells Theatre, just down the road from my current temporary abode, a groundbreaking ballet performance was set to captivate London: "The Rake's Progress." It featured revolutionary leotard designs for the time – sleek, minimalist and form-fitting. A world away from the lavish, ruffled skirts and ornate costumes of Victorian ballet, these leotards exuded modernism and sleek elegance, a perfect reflection of the burgeoning 'Spirit of Freedom'. I couldn't resist purchasing a similar leotard design from a delightful shop nearby – a pale rose pink with a touch of velvet around the neck. What a wonderful way to channel that era's elegant and fearless spirit!
