As a dancer, I loved seeing this versatility - and seeing it translated in the stores of 1985 was truly exciting! There was so much variety to choose from, everything from classic, silky styles with an 80s twist (hello, puffy sleeves!) to futuristic-looking neon numbers that were perfectly suited for an awesome 80s club night!
And the leg warmers… Oh, those fabulous leg warmers! I was positively giddy about the explosion of textures, colors, and patterns - and of course, I snagged myself a pair in neon pink – wouldn't want to disappoint you, would I?!

Their dancers truly elevated their concerts, showcasing sleek leotards with daring choreography - giving off serious attitude!
Shopping for 1985 Leotard TreasuresOkay, let’s talk shopping - my ultimate leotard-loving obsession! Now, 1985 was the age of specialty shops – they weren't called “dancewear” shops back then - and that’s where I was able to uncover true fashion treasures! Imagine a vibrant, colourful, explosion of textures! And there was always that lingering scent of lycra – it brings back all the memories!
These stores were brimming with brands like Capezio and Danskin. These brands were leading the way with their creative leotard designs, always on the cutting edge of the latest trends. From bright, bold colours to daring cutouts and exciting new materials, it was a true wonderland for any leotard enthusiast.
But of course, I also love a good vintage find, and the charity shops were perfect for that! Those vintage leotards just radiate that 80s charm, perfect for adding a touch of retro style to my own pink tutu wardrobe.
