Remember the 90s? Think neon, sequins, and a whole lot of glitter! 💎 Those were the days for fashion in the world of dance! Remember those gorgeous shimmering Lycra leotards in every shade imaginable, with geometric patterns, and those sassy little dance shorts? Let's face it, even though my usual style leans towards the classic pink tutu, even I couldn't resist a bit of 90s sparkle in my wardrobe!
My magical time-travelling pink sparkly leotard deposited me in a little dance studio in New York City. I just knew there had to be something absolutely divine waiting for me in that magical land of dance fashion. And I wasn't wrong.
The Dance Fashion of 1990
Imagine, my dears, if you will...bright fuchsia leotards with black geometric shapes, teamed with tiny hot pink shorts and those super sparkly leg warmers, complete with an eye-catching butterfly design. And just a touch of that iconic 90s attitude, wouldn't you say? ✨
I even managed to get a sneak peek into a local dance supply store and you wouldn't believe the colours! Emerald greens, turquoise blues, fiery oranges and everything in between. Oh, to be back in those fashion-forward 90s days!
My 90s Fashion Inspiration
That visit sparked a new, shimmery inspiration within me, my dears. And don't think for a minute that it didn't end with me adding a few 90s gems to my personal wardrobe. How can a ballet enthusiast resist a splash of that neon vibrance and sparkle?
Just the other day, I wore a vintage-inspired fuchsia leotard with silver sequin detailing. It was a real head-turner at the street performance, and guess what? I managed to sell out all my pink tutus for the entire week! That's the power of fashion for you, my darlings. 😉
A Time For Leotard Fashion Extravaganza
Speaking of those performances, have you all been catching the incredible world of contemporary ballet performances? From London to Paris, these dancers are putting their own unique stamp on dancewear, embracing everything from vibrant colours to edgy cuts. And let me tell you, the leotard styles are absolutely to die for!
My current obsession is a daring design, incorporating a one-shoulder leotard, made with a shimmering metallic fabric. They call it "futuristic chic," but I call it breathtaking. Who wouldn't want to channel their inner cyborg goddess with a leotard like that? 😉
And you know me, darlings. The minute I find a truly amazing design, it's getting recreated in a pink tutu, because my favourite rule of fashion? Always add a touch of pink! 🩰💖
