This month, I've whisked myself back to the 10th October 1993 - a date packed with dazzling dance-wear discoveries and thrilling performance insights. It was quite a journey! My travels began, as always, from my dear Derbyshire. You see, this month I needed extra cash for my grand 1993 expedition, so I spent a glorious week busking. Now, Derbyshire folk, bless 'em, they love a good performance. A few rousing routines under the crisp autumn air and voila - my pocket jingled enough to fuel my sparkly leotard time machine!

The moment the pink sequins on my magical leotard began to twinkle, I knew I was heading for a glamorous trip! With a flash of pink light and a burst of shimmering butterflies, I landed - smack bang in the middle of 10th October 1993. Imagine my surprise when I realised... it was the eve of one of the most fabulous ballets in history!

As it turns out, 10th October 1993 was a grand night for dance! My first stop was the iconic Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, which, I discovered, was hosting none other than The Sleeping Beauty! I had heard about this legendary ballet for years - how it brought life to the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, but to experience it myself, well, it was truly magical!

I've got to tell you, the costumes were pure leotard bliss. We're talking gorgeous tulle tutus in soft pastels, embellished with glittering jewels and stunning embroidery, paired with silken leotards - a real ode to classic elegance! I even caught a glimpse of the intricate stitchwork on the "Aurora" costume - it was simply breathtaking! I bet those gorgeous, light tutus twirled magnificently onstage, and I can't wait to try my hand at a few Aurora-inspired twirls when I'm back in the present!

The dancers, oh, they were utterly sublime! Their grace, their power - it felt like watching the story come alive, as if fairies, princes, and evil curses had materialised right before my eyes. I’m adding the “Sleeping Beauty” score to my playlist - I can’t get those melodies out of my head!

But my adventures weren't just confined to the grand Bolshoi! I love to keep my eyes peeled for leotard fashion trends worldwide, and in 1993, it was a real treat. Here are a few of the key highlights I discovered:
