Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where all things pink and sparkly reign supreme. It's your favourite Derbyshire ballerina, Emma, back with another scintillating tale from my adventures in leotard history!

This month, my time-travelling pink leotard whisked me away to the year 2007! The world felt so full of life, vibrancy, and – yes, you guessed it – fantastic leotard fashion! I can't get enough of the looks I saw. From the iconic dancers of the world to the stylish gymnasts, June 2007 was a true treat for the eyes.

Let's take a little peek into the world of leotards back then.

My first stop? The majestic Royal Opera House in London, of course! I love feeling the thrill of theatre and this place truly has an incredible aura. But let's not forget, it was June 2007, the month where ballet became extra glamorous!

*The star of the show? It was *The Sleeping Beauty. **

A real classic, and what a sight it was! I absolutely adored the costumes for the ballet, so full of romance and charm. I'm especially fond of Aurora’s iconic pink tutu in the Act 1 'Rose Adagio'. The lightness and grace of it just took my breath away!

As I waltzed backstage, I noticed that the dancers themselves were all decked out in beautifully crafted leotards – the epitome of ballet elegance. From sleek, long-sleeved, high-necked styles with beautiful geometric patterns, to more flowing, airy leotards, each and every one exuded class and sophistication.

I managed to snatch a little chat with one of the dancers, and her excitement for her role was so contagious. It's just a wonderful reminder of the passion and energy that ballet thrives on!

Now, my trip wouldn’t be complete without delving into the wider world of leotard fashion beyond the stage. June 2007, was bursting with trendy styles!

Let's talk Gymnastic Glamour:

Oh, the amazing gymnast leotards I spotted! It was truly an awe-inspiring spectacle. Vivid, eye-catching colours dominated the gymnasiums. From deep blues to bright yellows, these gymnasts were truly ready to stand out and showcase their skills in vibrant style.

They weren’t just sporting colourful leotards; the fabrics were another source of fascination. Think shimmery sequins, luxurious velvets, and bold textures - perfect for captivating the crowds with every graceful move.

The "Sporty Chic" Revolution:

It wasn't just the world of dance and gymnastics that was in love with leotards. I noticed a big rise in what I'd call "Sporty Chic"! A trend that incorporated a bit of that athleticism with street style. I found leotards paired with fashionable denim jackets or worn as layering pieces with long skirts and stylish footwear, a perfect blend of sporty comfort and cool fashion.

The "Athleisure" Trend is Born!

Okay, so 2007 might not have seen the full bloom of “athleisure,” but you could already feel its potential! This merging of athletic and leisure style was already on the rise in June 2007! Leotards as basic, versatile garments for everyday wear were becoming a stylish choice.

I was already sporting my leotards for dance class, but seeing them integrated into people’s everyday outfits really sparks my imagination! This trend was just starting, but its energy is undeniable, and its impact is huge, especially on today’s fashion scene.

Of course, my trip to 2007 wasn’t just about witnessing all of the incredible styles; it was also a chance to do what I do best – inspire people with my love of the pink tutu.

My little street ballet performance at Covent Garden was a success, I hope! There were a few surprised glances, some raised eyebrows, but mostly appreciative smiles! One little girl, with bright eyes and a tiny pink dress, even stopped to take a little bow with me, and I swear I heard her whisper "You’re just like a ballerina in my dream!"

I find it so wonderful to spread my love for the pink tutu with anyone and everyone. You just never know who you might inspire, what beautiful dance you might set off. Maybe it’s that spark, that joy, that tiny leap of faith.

Now I’m back in my own time, the pink tutu shimmering under my studio lamp as I jot down these reflections. What an amazing experience! If only I could find the magic to convince the entire world to join in a massive tutu extravaganza. But hey, one girl can only dream!
