Firstly, there was the "Dance Revolution" collection at the Chanel show, where a troupe of leggy models shimmied in beautiful black leotards with intricate, swirling, silver sequin details. They paired them with cascading, dramatic skirts and sparkling ballet flats - oh, the chic! I felt like a true ballerina doll amidst that glamour!

Another standout show was Dior where they unveiled ballet-inspired gowns that had the entire world swooning. Imagine flowy chiffon, shimmering tulle, and a delicate dusting of silver glitter... It's the kind of collection that makes you want to twirl in the streets of Paris for hours on end!

Of course, the leotard fashion wasn't confined to the catwalks. That December, ballet performances all over Paris were radiating elegance and artistic flair with breathtaking choreography that highlighted the dancers’ beautiful, body-skimming leotards. After Paris, I zipped back to my homeland, the fantastically creative and spirited city of London! As soon as I landed, I could feel the energy buzzing in the air. Now, I wouldn't call London's fashion scene as "high fashion" as Paris, but trust me, it's full of quirky, exciting and innovative style!

For starters, December was the peak season for Christmas pantomimes in London. These charming shows were full of gorgeous costumes, and those included sparkly, bright leotards that really stood out! The costumes showcased such amazing designs - we’re talking glitter, sequins, feathers and dazzling colours. These are definitely the leotards that make the audience cheer the loudest!

I managed to squeeze in a visit to the Royal Ballet's performance of The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House. Let's just say, it was the stuff of ballerina dreams! Now, no journey through leotard history is complete without venturing beyond the big cities! So I made a magical leotard leap, heading straight to the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil! The place was bursting with festive carnival energy, and the leotard fashion here was a complete joy!

I loved the creative freedom in Rio's carnival costumes. Think feathers, sequins, dazzling colours, amazing shapes and intricate detail that celebrate the art of dancing and showcasing your beautiful body. I even saw dancers performing on the streets wearing bold, colourful leotards decorated with symbols representing their individual dance styles! They were an incredible sight - so beautiful and full of life!

Next up, a stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina to experience Tango culture! Now, I know what you're thinking: Tango? Where are the leotards?! Don't worry, my darlings! Tango is all about graceful movement and sensual rhythm, and you'll find amazing dance attire, including some absolutely stunning leotards. I found that the Argentine dancers embraced classic leotard styles that hugged their body beautifully, with sleek black and metallic shades creating elegant and powerful lines!

My time travels through December 2008 reminded me of something incredibly special. It's not just about the leotards, my dear tutu-lovers!
