Bonjour mes chères danseuses! It's your favourite pink-loving tutu-clad time-traveller, Emma, here, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! I can hardly contain myself - it's the 11th of November and that can only mean one thing! It's time to jump into my sparkly pink leotard, grab my trusty time travel bag, and whisk us away on a magical adventure to the past!
This month, we're headed for the glamorous City of Lights, Paris, but not just any Paris - we're diving into 1920s Parisian fashion! This era was all about flair, and what better way to capture the essence of a 1920s Parisian woman than with a leotard, darling? Imagine it: the sleek lines of a black velvet leotard, just whispering secrets, accented with glittering beaded embellishments, a touch of bold colour peeking through, all under a decadent feathered cape - perfection!
As I stepped out of my magical pink time travelling leotard (still the best piece of clothing I own!) into 1920s Paris, I was instantly swept up in the vibrancy of it all! Music, laughter, and a feeling of liberation filled the air. People were flaunting their style and everyone was dancing! Leotards weren't just for the stage - they were making their way into the fashionable world of the day, just as they were for dancers! In those days, women wore these innovative, form-fitting garments as their underwear, much like corsets of earlier decades. The leotard had become a statement, not just of comfort and ease, but also of a new and exciting femininity.
Speaking of "femininity", can we take a moment to admire the stunning elegance of a true Parisian leotard? Forget the baggy and frumpy styles of yore, these leotards hugged every curve, emphasizing the graceful beauty of the wearer. A breathtaking ensemble might feature a vibrant, art-deco patterned leotard paired with a flowing silk skirt - a picture of absolute "Art Deco" glamour! It was simply stunning, and frankly, quite inspiring.
This Parisian leotard craze was even infiltrating the world of fashion shows! Back in those heady days, fashion houses started showcasing these elegant garments as pieces for everyday wear, highlighting the graceful fluidity of these daring, almost avant-garde, garments! It was exciting!
Oh, and can we talk about shoes for a moment, darlings? What would a leotard-loving fashionista like me be without a fab pair of shoes to complete the look? My inner shoe-lover was beside herself when I saw the stunning pumps worn with these 1920s leotards! They had delicate straps that sparkled in the moonlight, giving every step a dazzling grace. It was perfection, and I instantly knew that it had to go into my shopping list!
It was a fantastic day, filled with inspiration! The history of the leotard truly has such an incredible story - It’s no wonder I make it my mission to bring it to you, right here, on my website, each month! It really is a delight to share with all of you. This month, my blog trip has been such an amazing opportunity for my dance outfit creativity! I am feeling ready to mix it up with some 1920s flair myself!
Don't forget to stay tuned to my website for more Leotard Fashion travel posts, my upcoming street ballet performance in Derby Market Place next Saturday, and my very own review of the new "Belle Epoque" leotard range available from my favourite online dance store - it has a divine, vintage vibe that I know you'll love!
Until next time, darling dancers, remember to keep it stylish and always stay in touch with your inner diva!

P.S: Can we get those lovely little satin pumps?
And how could I possibly forget the wonderful ballet productions I managed to catch during my time travel in Paris? I simply had to go see a show at the iconic Paris Opera Ballet - what a joy to witness the magic of classical ballet within its grand, gilded walls!
Then, I just had to see “La Belle Epoque” at the Theatre des Champs-Elysées, what a show, filled with Parisian chic, gorgeous, decadent leotards and elaborate feathered costumes. It truly showcased the beauty and power of this period and, let me tell you, it was absolutely fabulous.
Remember, if you're in Derby next weekend, don’t miss out on my street performance, I'll be wearing the “Belle Epoque” inspired pink and black tutu, it's going to be a beauty.
