Hello, my darlings! It’s Emma, your time-travelling tutu enthusiast, back from another fabulous journey into the world of leotard fashion! October 2016 – what a delightful time to be a fashionista, eh? Let me tell you, my sparkly pink time-travelling leotard really shimmered amidst the glamour of this particular date. Today, I’m bringing you right to the heart of the fashion world, to the Paris Fashion Week – where history and elegance collide, and the leotard, of course, takes centre stage.

Now, if you’re picturing me in a pink tutu amid a throng of sophisticated Parisian fashionistas, you’re not entirely wrong, but remember, my darlings, my aim is to encourage a love of leotard fashion across the decades, across the globe! So, on my whirlwind trip to Paris, I decided to ditch the tutu – although, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want a twirling photo in front of the Eiffel Tower with that glorious structure reflected in the sequins? I channeled the sleek elegance of the modern world in a tailored, scarlet leotard, perfectly fitted and a touch daring, complete with a chic pair of ballet flats, oh so très chic!

Firstly, I took a promenade through the very chic Rue Saint-Honoré, just to soak up the fashion vibes and gather inspiration, naturally. You see, in this world of constantly evolving trends, fashion has its finger firmly on the pulse – and you know how much I love a little pulse-checking! The 2016 runways were ablaze with a kaleidoscope of colour, texture, and playful silhouettes. The leotard? Absolutely central, from its sleek appearance on the Chanel runway, pairing beautifully with chic trousers and an equally chic blazer, to the vibrant colours splashed across leotard-esque designs that took the stage with such bold panache. Oh, and that sheer tulle – it was everywhere, my darlings, making for some absolutely dazzling, floaty leotard-esque creations, just begging to be worn, or perhaps even reinterpreted in a new pink tutu twist – just imagine!

Now, a visit to the heart of Paris fashion isn't complete without an unforgettable visit to the majestic Palais Garnier. It wasn't just the architecture that captivated me, although it is truly awe-inspiring – I went there to be in the heart of the action.

Can you imagine the thrill of being backstage at a renowned Paris Opera Ballet performance, just as they’re preparing to dance? The air was alive with nervous energy – a beautiful tension just waiting to explode on the stage, much like a sparkling pink tutu being tossed to the wind! The leotard, of course, was the main star – so perfectly tailored and elegant, crafted for the body, the movement, the passion of these exquisite dancers. Every fold, every pleat, each perfectly chosen colour and embellishment – all designed to showcase not only the sheer artistry of the leotard itself, but also the beauty of the human form in motion. I'm always so inspired by the leotard designs of the classical ballets – I simply cannot resist creating my own pink-hued, tulle-infused adaptations when I return to Derbyshire.

My visit to Paris wasn't simply about high fashion, darling. No, my travels are always a vibrant tapestry, woven with the thread of street style, performance art, and everything in between. There I was, twirling on a Parisian street corner in a delightful, slightly mischievous mood, showcasing my own, rather flamboyant interpretation of leotard fashion - a fiery crimson tutu paired with a dazzling black, embellished leotard and my most confident, exuberant smile! This was definitely my chance to put a cheeky "Pink Tutu Twist" on Parisian street style, much to the amusement and admiration of the locals. Seeing their eyes widen at the sight of such a vibrant splash of pink tutu in the midst of their chic Parisian landscape was definitely a highlight of the trip – not to mention the lively chat about my little corner-stage dance performance, which always sparks some really interesting conversations.
