My latest trip was an absolute delight. Think cobbled streets, chic cafes, and an intoxicating buzz of creativity - oh yes, we're in Paris, darling! Paris was bursting with style that day, and for a leotard enthusiast like myself, it was simply a dream come true!
Leotard Love in La Ville Lumière:
Paris in 2019 was all about embracing both classic elegance and contemporary edge. My research suggests this period was heavily influenced by the resurgence of ballet and the ever-present elegance of Parisian couture. On my Parisian jaunt, I encountered a vibrant fusion of the two, with dancers adopting sleek silhouettes for contemporary shows, while fashion designers embraced the leotard’s versatility. It felt like every Parisian, from fashion-forward creatives to ballet dancers, understood the magic of the leotard's form-fitting comfort, graceful silhouette, and captivating artistry.

Of course, I couldn't go without checking out a show! I caught a captivating performance at the legendary Opéra Garnier. You can imagine the sheer artistry and captivating skill showcased there! The dancers' sleek leotards in rich jewel tones - crimson, sapphire, emerald, oh, how they shimmered! You could sense a whole universe of artistry and emotion within their movement, all conveyed through their incredible grace and breathtaking choreography. I felt a deep kinship with the dancers, a bond born from shared passion and an unyielding devotion to the art form.
But Paris wasn't just about big-budget productions. I also ventured into a quaint little theatre off the beaten path where an independent company presented a contemporary piece. It was raw, powerful, and deeply personal - a poignant reflection on the human condition, as expressed through captivating choreography. The dancers here favoured more minimalist leotards - sleek black numbers, soft charcoal hues, and striking white ones that felt timeless yet ultra-modern. Of course, Parisian street style in 2019 was a spectacle of its own. I spotted a delightful mix of fashionistas wearing leotards for daytime outings!
