This month, we’re going right back to May 2020 – a time when the world felt a little bit different. While we might have been adjusting to new ways of life, the one constant remained: my undying passion for leotard fashion.
So, how did I begin this magical month? Well, it started with a particularly invigorating street ballet performance in the heart of Derbyshire. Picture this: me, twirling in a vibrant cerise tulle tutu, under the dappling rays of a May sun, surrounded by the warm cheers of passersby. My dazzling, pink-sequined leotard shimmered as I pirouetted, spreading a little bit of pink-tutu magic wherever I went.
Of course, after such a stellar performance, it was time for a bit of reward. With my heart still full from the applause, I hopped into my enchanted pink time-travelling leotard – a sparkling masterpiece that carries me through the ages. A little twinkle, a few shimmers, and poof I was gone!
My destination for this journey was none other than London – the epicentre of fashion history and, I might add, leotard magic! Now, in May 2020, the world of dance was still navigating the aftermath of a challenging period. But that didn't dim the enthusiasm of dance enthusiasts! London's renowned Sadler’s Wells theatre was showcasing a thrilling contemporary dance programme. And what could I possibly do except join the queue for the evening show?
Let me tell you, it was captivating! From breathtaking choreography to stunning costumes, every minute of that performance left me utterly mesmerized. I particularly loved the leotard design worn by the principal dancer - it was a stunning navy velvet creation with delicate embroidered embellishments, perfectly showcasing her dynamic moves. A stark contrast to my usual pink tutu, but equally fabulous in its own right!
But my adventures weren't confined to the theatre. I spent hours exploring the charming boutiques in Covent Garden. My favourite, by far, was the leotard worn by the sorceress: it was a breathtaking work of art crafted from emerald-green shimmering fabric. It moved like a flowing river with each twirl, leaving a trail of enchanted green sparkles. A leotard that truly embodied the mystical air of the story.
Later that evening, I found myself at the Royal Opera House, joining the ballet enthusiasts of London for the spectacular finale of a prestigious dance competition. The tension was palpable – a delightful mix of excitement and anxiety as each dancer gave it their all, displaying their skill and grace in dazzling costumes and stylish leotards.
