Hello my dearest Tutu Tribe! ๐ฉฐโจ
It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind trip through time! December always seems to be a busy month, and this year was no exception! I found myself whisked away to the most fabulous fashion hub imaginable โ Paris, in the year 1928! ๐ซ๐ท
Just imagine, darling: cobblestone streets, the scent of freshly baked pastries in the air, and a sense of glamour you can practically touch! The 1920s were all about liberation and embracing new styles, and the world of leotards was certainly not left behind!
This trip, my sparkly pink leotard landed me smack-dab in the heart of Parisian fashion. The iconic Coco Chanel, darling, she was truly changing the way women thought about clothing. Think elegant silhouettes, with a touch of rebellion โ the perfect mix for a true fashionista! And those drop-waisted dresses, oh my!
The leotards in this era were all about streamlining the female figure. Think smooth lines, simple shapes, and fabrics that draped like a dream! Ballet was still evolving back then, with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes stirring things up with their flamboyant costumes and dances. I even spotted a lovely leotard design in one of the studios I visited! It was a soft silk number, beautifully embroidered with intricate details, very reminiscent of the art deco patterns so popular at the time.
It seems the world was just starting to fall in love with the versatility of leotards in those days! I saw leotards under a symphony of fashionable dresses and skirts. And the colours? Divine! They favoured luxurious jewel tones: deep blues, emeralds, and even a lovely rose-gold shade that reminded me of my beloved pink, of course!
Oh, and did I mention the feather boas? The glamour! A few days after arriving in Paris, I was lucky enough to score a ticket to a Parisian ball! A room full of shimmering sequins, feathered boas, and dancing like I've never seen! I actually spotted a few pink tutu-like numbers in the crowd, making my heart skip a beat!
Of course, I made sure to snag myself a new leotard as a souvenir of my trip! It's a divine, cherry red number, with a lovely bit of shimmer that looks straight out of a 1920s Parisian magazine! ๐ โจ
And speaking of souvenirs, my trip wouldn't be complete without talking about the local delicacies. French patisseries? Pure magic, darling! You wouldn't believe how many delicious sweets are packed with delicate flowers! And a truly Parisian afternoon isn't complete without a steaming cup of chocolate au lait, so thick and rich it practically melts in your mouth! โ๏ธ๐ซ
Now, if you're in the mood for something a little closer to home, darling, I highly recommend taking a peek at the leotard trends that are setting the stage this month in Derbyshire, my very own beautiful home county!
Here are just a few things you don't want to miss:
Leotard Fashion Focus:
- Sparkle and Shine: The colder weather calls for gleaming details! Whether you're going for a subtle shimmer or a dazzling display of crystals, sparkles are a must! Think iridescent fabrics, sequins, or a few strategic blingy embellishments.
- Lace Love: Channel your inner ballerina with classic lace leotards. They are simply perfect for everything from rehearsals to street performances. I'm partial to delicate patterns and dainty designs, with touches of pastel colours and whimsical florals, all to add a bit of Victorian elegance.
Colour Pop: Winter doesn't mean you have to abandon your love of colour, darling! Embrace bold hues! Whether you're leaning towards a vibrant purple, a sunny yellow, or, of course, my go-to pink, be sure to inject some life into your dancewear!
Leotard Shows Not to Miss:
- Derbyshire Ballet's Annual Christmas Spectacular! It wouldn't be December without a magical ballet show. This one promises a feast for the eyes with dazzling costumes, sparkling performances, and festive cheer! ๐โจ
- The Bakewell Arts Festival: Prepare for a treat for your artistic soul! Bakewell always offers vibrant shows, including contemporary dance pieces featuring innovative leotard designs. It's the perfect place to discover new tendencies in ballet fashion. ๐จ๐
Well, my darling Tutu Tribe, I hope this trip down the rabbit hole of fashion has sparked your imagination and left you with a few fabulous ideas for your own leotard wardrobes!
Remember, darlings, every day is an opportunity to embrace your inner ballerina, wear your most magical pink tutu, and spread the joy of dance and fashion across the world!
Until next month, my loves!
๐ Emma
