Hello, my gorgeous darlings! Emma here, your favourite Derbyshire ballerina and, of course, leotard enthusiast! Itās been a whirlwind month, full of swirling tutus and glittery leotards. December, as always, is such a magical time, particularly for the love of dance and all things sparkly!
But before we dive into all that twirling magic, letās have a quick chat about something rather important. Do you ever get a little tired of that same old tired black leotard, darlings? Just thinking about it gives me a shiver down my spine! This month, my mission, as always, is to spread the joy of the pink tutu! Itās the perfect attire for the festive season, oozing Christmas spirit and whimsical delight! Plus, it truly flatters every shape and size. I swear, my dear readers, there's something so liberating about twirling in a fluffy pink confection. Just ask my fabulous street performance crew ā we've been captivating the crowds of Manchester and Liverpool, and even a few curious passersby in Edinburgh!
But, todayās post, darlings, isnāt about just a fluffy pink confection. Weāre stepping back in time ā no, not just a little, a whopping 25 years! To 2034 to be exact. Why? Because December 12th, 2034 is a very important date for anyone interested in leotard fashion, because⦠drumroll⦠it's the day the first ever underwater ballet performance took place!
Now, I must confess, the idea of performing a grand jetƩ beneath the waves gives me the shivers (not in a bad way!). But imagine, the costumes, the glittering fabrics, the way the sunlight plays on the shimmering silk as a dancer leaps through the water! A dream come true, no?
Thankfully, the magical sparkles in my own pink time travelling leotard granted me safe passage to this underwater wonderland. Picture this, my darlings: The sleek elegance of a black velvet leotard adorned with iridescent scales, mirroring the movement of the water; graceful fishtails mimicking the balletās movements; dancers adorned with luminous jellyfish motifs, it was simply spectacular! It was almost like watching a mermaid dance. Honestly, you just wouldnāt believe how elegant the whole thing was!
This spectacular performance sparked a revolution in leotard design, inspiring countless innovative underwater fashion creations, making 2034 a groundbreaking year for leotard fashion, indeed.
The energy in 2034 was phenomenal! The underwater performance was just the start. After, we went exploring! The city was filled with people of all ages sporting these fantastic leotard creations! It felt as if everyone had just gotten back from the theatre after seeing some fantastic show! There was the most incredible shop I found on an underwater street called "The Underwater Sea Star". Honestly, it was a visual extravaganza! The vibrant colours, the intricate details ā all celebrating that unique undersea aesthetic.
Of course, my main aim was to spot those oh-so-fantastic leotard creations, and, of course, to show them off with my pink tutu! It seems that back in 2034, the leotard wasn't just for dancers; they were the must-have fashion statement, worn by everyone from teachers to business executives! They came in an amazing variety, all the way from soft pastels for everyday wear to shimmering neon fabrics for evening festivities!
My time in 2034 wasnāt just about fashion though. The artistic side of the world in 2034 was thriving, much like today. I had a blast going to several amazing underwater ballet shows ā the costumes were dazzling! I must confess I got to enjoy some underwater burlesque too, which is pretty special for an adventurous ballerina! (If Iām being honest, though, I do still prefer the elegant twirling of classical ballet).
One of my favourite memories from 2034 has to be seeing this stunning dance performance under a dazzling neon rainbow! The costumes were a spectacle in themselves: metallic gold and silver fabrics reflecting the kaleidoscope of neon colours, all complemented by intricate fishnet designs. It was almost a fashion show at sea!
I was especially mesmerized by a show performed at an oceanarium called āUnderwater Edenā. There were hundreds of holographic jellyfish and glow-in-the-dark coral displays! This really emphasized the creativity of leotards.
The dance troupe "The Aqua Divas" were absolutely phenomenal. I've never seen anything so unique ā graceful leaps and elegant underwater pirouettes, all while surrounded by a dazzling kaleidoscope of light and life. It really did inspire me.
But perhaps the most memorable part of my time in 2034 was simply experiencing the vibrancy of the world! I encountered such diversity in how leotards were used, the sense of fun and energy people had with their outfits. It was an excellent reminder to just have a good time and never take myself too seriously! I was inspired! I had to give it a try! I returned from my 2034 adventure feeling incredibly invigorated and bursting with ideas. You know, sometimes all you need is a little trip to the future to give you a boost!
So, now Iām back, and my next big mission, aside from the obvious - everyone wearing a pink tutu - is to inspire others with what I saw in 2034! It's a great reminder that the leotard is an incredibly versatile garment. Forget the rigid expectations of a 'ballet leotard'! I plan to design leotards that combine practicality and artistic expression, perfect for every dancer - even the non-dancing folks who want a little sparkle in their lives!
Let's bring a little bit of that underwater magic into our daily lives, shall we? Youāll all be sporting your dazzling pink tutus before long. You heard it here first, my darling! Stay tuned for exciting updates on my latest designs inspired by this most unique leotard trip.
Oh, one more thing before I sign off ā I just had to share some pictures of a super exciting event from my little tour back in time! Remember, this blog isn't just about the amazing world of leotards! I adore seeing spectacular dance shows from every era.
One of my all-time favourite ballet productions that was in its 50th year run, had this amazing theme of celebrating the future. Imagine my surprise when, amidst the dazzling dance performance and intricate stage design, a magical pink leotard flew down on a golden beam, straight into the heart of the performance. It looked suspiciously like my own time-travelling one. It seems like magic has a sense of humor! I canāt wait to go back and explore more 2034. My pink tutu awaits!
Until next time, keep dancing, and let those tutus twirl, my dears.
Love, Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
