Now, darling, I am no stranger to a dazzling performance, and Iâm usually quite confident when it comes to putting on a show. However, this place was another level! They were practicing for their premiere of âThe Ballerina and the Astronautâ and the costumes were something to die for! Seriously, they looked like a mixture of shimmering starlight and glittering stardust! It had me longing to have my own shimmering time-traveling leotard. It made mine feel like just another sparkly garment in comparison. I even got a photo with the choreographer, who by the way, is such a darling.
Speaking of dazzling shows, this date has an important place in the world of performance art! The Grand Opening of the dazzling âLeotardoriumâ was happening in London. This Museum celebrates everything to do with leotard design through the ages. From Victorian era performance leotards, to circus acrobat outfits and ballerina costumes right up to the current designs! It is like an homage to every fabulous dancer in history. If you love all things leotard like I do then you will definitely have to go!
But we canât talk about Leotard history without a look at the trends for 2037, and let me tell you, darlings, the world of leotard fashion was exploding with creativity! It was the era of the "Fluid Form" leotard, think flowing, ethereal lines, luxurious fabrics and a celebration of the human form in all its graceful beauty! I love the elegance of that look. But if youâre more for a classic design, there was a huge comeback in the classic, simple leotard design! A return to basics was seen everywhere from stage to street.
Oh, and the colours, darling! 2037 saw a delightful explosion of colours with vibrant pinks, jewel tones, and shimmering metallics all being a part of leotard fashion in 2037. My own time-traveling leotard had a gorgeous fuchsia metallic shimmer which perfectly matched the energy of the period. And oh! Those sparkles! It seemed like every single leotard in the world was covered with sparkles in 2037. Think: holographic shimmer, star dust sequins, and dazzling glitter that almost hypnotized you! And when I went shopping in 2037 I did buy myself the most exquisite, sequinned silver leotard - the kind you dream of!
There was a whole new way of wearing leotards in 2037. I can still see it in my mind, girls with sleek, simple leotards, paired with elegant flowy pants, or beautiful, bold skirts! But this year there were so many different and imaginative leotard creations, like the ones we saw on display at the âLeotardoriumâ - from leotards that were like living works of art, with textures and fabrics that moved with the dancers! There was a beautiful piece from a Japanese artist who had incorporated thousands of hand stitched tiny plastic mirrors onto a pale peach coloured leotard, creating a shimmering, holographic, magical effect, and another creation which was inspired by the star constellations - just fabulous!
Oh, and who can forget the beautiful âLeotard Olympicsâ, darling? The whole planet was gripped by the fever, with nations celebrating leotards as well as all the traditional events. They were a fashion show spectacle. Just think, countries dressed up in all their most creative and colourful leotards! A celebration of leotard fashion like no other. And theyâre so much fun to watch too!
2037 really was a landmark year, my lovelies, with its love of all things sparkling, fluid and dazzling.
