Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, where fashion, history and a whole lot of pink meet! This month, I'm absolutely buzzing because I've just come back from an amazing time-travel trip, taking me right back to December 2042! I know what you're thinking, 2042? How far in the future can leotard history really take us? But let me tell you, even with the shiny metallic leotards and shimmering leggings of that time, it was utterly fascinating! And I'll let you in on a secret - I found out exactly where those sparkly, future leotard styles were born...
Before I tell you all about it, though, let's chat about how I travelled there! Of course, I sported my magical, pink sparkling leotard, adorned with thousands of tiny, iridescent crystals that practically shimmered with the power of a thousand sunrises! It's not just any leotard, you see, this one is my very special, time-travelling garment. Who knew a leotard could take you anywhere? I do, obviously!
As I always do, I was also kitted out in my absolute favourite pink tutu, it's this delicate, hand-beaded creation I found at a vintage boutique back in 1989 (oh, it has a story), that has more ruffles than you can shake a feather boa at! The tutu and I were feeling very chic, shall I say, with me in my fabulous knee-high, candy-pink leather boots and sparkly eye shadow... you know how I like to travel in style. I think, to be honest, my style in itself is a bit of a time-warp anyway. Oh, and did I tell you about the feather boa?! My signature colour - obviously pink - is absolutely divine. I always match it with my leotard - I'm a bit obsessed. And yes, this time, the feather boa even went with me through the time-portal. Let's just say, there was no lack of sparkle and glamour to this journey!
But back to the main point. December 2042! I knew there was going to be a lot of neon in fashion by then - we're talking 1980s revisited, all about the future and the technology in everyday life. I even went to a show that looked at this whole future-fashion thing and saw all of these holographic prints on the most awesome neon leotards you can imagine. I got this one amazing, body-fitting, silver and gold metallic number which I have been meaning to post pics of for ages, and let's not forget the crazy-cool, iridescent catsuits that really had the whole audience cheering.
But back to the actual story... because that’s what I travel for - the history. I stumbled across an absolute gem in an exhibition about fashion and performance. You wouldn’t believe it, they were exhibiting original sketches for those neon and metallic leotards! They were actually drawn way back in the 1950s! The sketches looked so modern! Imagine, my lovelies, the ideas for fashion that were out there decades before anyone thought about all that cool, glittery future stuff.
So, it turns out, it wasn't future-fashion, per se. These fashion ideas, they've been around much longer. Those designers in the 1950s, they really saw a vision of where things were going - neon, shimmer, technology and all! They had this crazy futuristic vision and, boom, bang! Decades later, here they are, in their full glory. It was an incredible find! It made me realise that all those crazy, futuristic visions from the past are somehow reflected in what’s around us now! It’s truly amazing and it makes my heart sing!
But wait, there's more. In addition to this show-stopping exhibition, I got the best chance to catch a peek into how dance itself was developing in 2042! And can I just say - it was a breathtaking sight! Imagine this - dancers all wearing the most gorgeous metallic, skin-tight leotards. Each outfit is covered with strategically placed iridescent patterns, which shimmered in a light-show extravaganza, right along with the costumes and set pieces. They were doing these amazing balletic-hip-hop fusions.
As a ballet aficionado, let me tell you, watching a fusion of graceful balletic movement, all powered up with a dynamic street-dance flow, is intense. I couldn’t believe how exciting this dance experience was - truly, a treat for the senses. I tried to dance with the crowd - I was certainly encouraged, which made the moment extra exciting. I do love an audience - I have my signature "pink-tutu-style" dancing style. Oh, darling, you have to see it to believe it - it is really very pink! It’s an homage to the beautiful femininity and charm that comes from ballet and those traditional fluffy leotard dresses - I simply can’t get enough! I wish you all could see it. I bet we would all become great friends. It’s such a blast. I do all my travelling from the money I get performing in Derbyshire at street dances. I often meet my friends there - and yes I wear pink there too - as they’ll all tell you, they adore it - pink does rule the world - you just have to get the timing right. And this crowd - the street dancers and hip-hoppers- are really up for pink. Who wouldn’t be! The pink tutu works best with this music - you would just love to dance to it too.
I know this all might sound a little fantastical - but trust me, when I'm out there, pink tutu shimmering, dazzling and flowing with those magnificent dancers and hip-hop fusion, it's magical. Absolutely, magical. You could say that I'm a bit obsessed with pink. Who knew that pink could get me a ticket to a fashion and performance spectacle unlike any other? Well, I knew. Pink-Tutu.com always has its ear to the ground! I mean, it's the future of fashion, and, really, who doesn't love a touch of pink!
Oh, and talking about the future, do I have something special to tell you about our pink-tutu family… In fact, I am already working on a collection of my new future-vintage styles! This is super exciting stuff I can’t say any more yet - but let’s just say, it’s going to involve those magical metallic leotard designs I saw. I can’t wait to bring you all these fabulous styles. The leotards in my collection will have that glamorous, vintage style, that nostalgic look, but mixed with a bit of future and technology… Well, let's just say I am in heaven!
