As you know, I've always been obsessed with the history of leotards. Every time I zip myself into my shimmering, magical, time-travelling leotard, it feels like I'm entering a whole new chapter of leotard evolution. The streets themselves are bursting with vibrant, whimsical leotards! They're not just for the ballet dancers anymore. Everyday fashion in 2043 has embraced the freedom and versatility of leotards. And oh my goodness, are the colours amazing! You've got bold fuchsia, electric turquoise, and, of course, my beloved, classic pink.

One of my absolute favourite leotards was in a shop named "Leotard Chic", made with a gorgeous ombre silk fabric, gradually blending from soft rose to fiery crimson. The intricate detailing of the leotard, coupled with a stylish Parisian haircut, left me utterly enchanted!

Next, I travelled across the Atlantic to the dazzling energy of New York City. This is where leotards really get creative. Here they combine their iconic streetwear culture with athleticism and modern dance aesthetics, resulting in bold designs and unconventional combinations. It’s almost as though every New Yorker is walking a runway! There was this mesmerizing neon green leotard I found at "The Leotard Lab" – it’s a super vibrant blend of street style and activewear.

Every week, we feature a leotard from a past time. And this week is about the early 1900s where ballet and gymnastics really brought leotards into the limelight! This is the era when leotards were all about flexibility, comfort and functionality – the perfect combination for serious dancing. It was in the early 1900s that leotards began to evolve into the iconic garment they are today.
