This year, though, Iâve decided to spend December 12th 2048 in the glorious glow of Leotard History. Iâve always loved the elegance of a beautifully cut leotard - the perfect canvas for expressing your unique dance style! So today, let's embark on a whimsical journey to uncover the history of this iconic garment, and explore how leotard fashion has shifted and morphed across the centuries.

Imagine a time when tights and leggings were still whispers of an imagined future. Back then, ladies wouldn't be seen in the slightest hint of a revealing outfit! My Victorian sisters would only be able to admire the beautiful line of their dancersâ legs, hidden beneath long skirts. Thankfully, the arrival of the âLeotard,â named after the flamboyant circus performer Jules Leotard (who certainly knew a thing or two about eye-catching attire!), started to turn heads in the 1840s.
