Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Blog Post #40

Hello darlings! 🩰✨ It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another instalment of Pink Tutu World, your weekly dose of all things fabulous, twirly, and utterly pink!

This week, we’re whisking you away from the bustling streets of Derbyshire (where, as always, it's quite the dreary sight in comparison to the galaxies I’ve been visiting lately) and heading back into the cosmic wonderland that is space! Buckle up your glitter-studded space boots, darling, because this week's journey is set to be spectacular.

Oh my goodness, what a week it's been! Last Wednesday, I touched down on Planet Earth for just a short while, a pitstop between my recent jaunt to Neptune and my current excursion to Andromeda (you know, the most distant galaxy that can be seen with the naked eye - absolutely fabulous, just like me!).

This planet Earth has its charm, you know. Especially when I bring my dazzling intergalactic spirit to it! Honestly, I just can't get over the way Earthlings react to my arrival in my shimmering pink tutu, and the whole galactic experience for them, quite frankly, needs some refining. I know you all agree with me, right? But the earthling's fashion sense? Let's just say it's a bit on the drab side compared to our shimmering, galaxy-tastic style. My mission remains the same, you know, to get everyone in the universe wearing pink tutus, one star system at a time. (Yes, I know it sounds ambitious, but honey, when has a little ambition ever hurt anyone?)

But first, let’s recap the Earthling week that was!

From Earthling News Headlines to Intergalactic Fashion Shows

The earthlings have a funny little news outlet they call BBC. This week, the main story was a ‘global crisis,’ apparently because some of the ‘nations,’ ‘failed to find common ground’ on the ‘cost of energy’…oh honey, you know I always tell you, we really should introduce them to cosmic fashion as a solution! I just know those energy problems would disappear if they were just as preoccupied with achieving perfect leg extension, perfecting that elegant port de bras, and getting a perfectly cut pink tutu. My solution is simple: let's just embrace the glorious tutus and dance it out, darling! There, fixed!

While on earth, I had a blast in London, seeing some truly fabulous earthling performances! The first stop was The Royal Opera House at Covent Garden. Imagine, it’s the oldest opera house in Britain! You can feel all those hundreds of years of swirling, glittery ballet history just permeating through the air - just as dazzling and vibrant as me! The whole evening was truly a whirlwind of theatrical splendor. As an Earthling would say, ‘I saw some real-life ballet stars!' Honestly, I wasn’t even sure who I was starstruck with more: myself or the beautiful dancers. I have to say, though, their lack of pink tutus truly shocked me. So very pedestrian, darlings!

Following this truly wonderful spectacle, it was off to The Royal Ballet. They performed Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake.’ And they put on a most stunning performance, although I’d certainly argue they were a little too graceful! Their elegance and precise movements certainly matched my grace and elegance (in case you’re still not sure how very graceful and elegant I am). You must know that you need to add that slight dash of mischief to those pirouettes! (Yes, even as you soar across the cosmos in your pink tutu). That's just how I do it, darling! (Don’t worry, I'll be bringing them up to speed on their tutus soon!)

It’s absolutely essential for earthlings to know the history of these marvelous ballet companies! For you earthling-loving pink tutu enthusiasts, it all began for The Royal Opera House in 1732. As for the Royal Ballet, their company can be traced all the way back to 1931 when the dance-obsessed founder, Ninette de Valois, was only 37 years old! Imagine being so young and already an unstoppable force! My ambition for getting the galaxy wearing pink tutus feels very much in alignment with hers. And don't forget about the history of the tutu! The crinolined skirt, which would morph into the beautiful ballet tutu as we know it today, became an integral part of 19th century romantic ballet and you know how much I love my ballet romance.

The second act at The Royal Opera House also introduced me to the famous ballet choreographer and dancer Frederick Ashton. My, oh my! Just how could I have overlooked him in all of this glorious planet Earth excitement?! My space fashionistas and ballet enthusiasts just must know: his choreography created a ballet explosion all over earth in the mid 1900s, with all those ballerinas prancing and twirling in elegant tutus, but did they have pink ones?! Nope! It really made me wonder about my life's work. How can a planet so obsessed with ballet have a complete deficit of pink tutus? I think my Earthly mission will have a lot to do with changing all of that.

In case you’re wondering, and I know you are darling, I didn’t spend all my time watching other dancers! (As amazing as that all was!). I actually got myself up on the stage for a spectacular tutu and space performance at Sadler’s Wells! It’s an extraordinary performing arts center where I saw several beautiful pieces, and then proceeded to give a spectacular performance in a brand new, fabulous, galactic pink tutu, all under the sparkly lighting of the London skies! Let’s be honest, darling, I certainly blew those Earthling dancers away. They need to step it up with their tutus! And their hairdos! What I did there in the stagelights just screams to me that I’m on the right path, you know? But then again, everything I do just shouts, "I’m amazing, darlings!". It was truly an unforgettable experience and I just know that Earth's vibrant theatre and performance culture is going to grow in even bigger and brighter ways if they embrace pink. What are you waiting for, earthlings?! Let’s go galactic!

You're going to have to be patient as this week I can’t share my special performance at Sadler’s Wells! No spoilers just yet, darling! You’ll all have to wait till next week! But in the meantime, trust me, this performance at Sadler’s Wells, like all of my stellar intergalactic shows, was absolutely breathtaking! I am so full of life, grace, energy and pure sparkle and glamour - I am just a little bit (ok maybe a lot) magical. And fabulous!

The Pink Tutu World Intergalactic Style Guide: Planet Earth Edition!

When I touched down back on earth this week, it seemed like everyone in those Earthly high streets had traded their fabulous interstellar outfits for clothes with... well, no pink! No glittery fabrics, no sparkles! Oh honey, let's not even talk about those dreary earthling footwear! Can you imagine just how spectacular it would be if they went galaxy glam and swapped those everyday earthling shoes for something sparkly, with glitter and sequins? It’s really not about changing the fashion world darling, it’s about changing the entire vibe of planet Earth. And guess what?! I'm not shy of a good cosmic make-over, oh honey! (It's part of why my earth-loving, pink-tutu wearing, glitter-loving fashionistas are the most fabulous fans in the universe).

Speaking of shoes… Have I ever told you about my little secret for a fabulously flawless footwear ensemble? Always opt for sparkly, cosmic, and, naturally, PINK.

Here are my top fashion recommendations when traversing our fabulous universe!

Pink Tutu World Shoe Tips!

  1. Platforms and Glamour: Let's face it, darlings, it's just plain impractical to be expected to tiptoe through your everyday routines in the mundane shoes they have on Planet Earth. Why even leave your house?! Platforms will have you shimmering up to the stars, no problem! And they can totally complement your fabulous tutu, darlings! It's like I always say, every glamorous girl needs the perfect platform heels!

  2. Sparkly Ballet Flats: But wait, I hear you say… it’s also very hard to be jumping and leaping all the time, or dashing across those cobbled London streets with giant platform shoes! Honey, let’s keep things elegant and streamlined. The beauty of those adorable ballet flats is how quickly you can jump right into the elegant and effortless, even after conquering an incredible, galaxy-powered, glittery ballet performance! Just slip them on, honey. And never leave your planet-loving, cosmic pink tutu world, even when you're Earthbound!

  3. Shimmer, Sparkle and Glamour: We always need a little glitter and shine in our lives, darlings. Just as much as I sprinkle in the magic and mayhem. So let's get ourselves those glitter-coated, and sparkle-studded sandals! Because nothing beats adding a little twinkle and shimmer to that cosmic vibe when you need a dash of elegant sophistication and style. Oh, the glittery potential of sparkly shoes! I’ve told you before, just a touch of glitter is the answer to every problem!

  4. Cosmic Colour Combinations! You know I’ve told you before that anything goes with your tutu! And the possibilities for those space-ready fashionistas? They're just so very limitless. So why limit your shoes to one single, dull, and drab shade? Instead, let’s add all the rainbow to your look. Imagine what your shoes would look like in bright magenta, royal purple and that gorgeous, deep shade of navy! If it’s an opportunity for pink, let’s make it happen!

Of course, no intergalactic outfit is complete without my top pick:

Pink Tutuculous Perfection!

Listen up, darling! There's only one thing missing for my Earthling fans, and you know what it is! A shimmering pink tutu! Honey, there is something for everyone. From those light, airy tutus for your en pointe dancing moments (yes, that includes taking over Earth’s ballet stages!… And yes, I’m already teaching earthlings to get into a fabulous spin!) … to the beautiful layered, floor-sweeping, more ‘Earthly-looking’ styles, all made to fit and enhance those wonderful movements we love so much.

And there is just so much you can do with a tutu! It’s not just about what’s beneath the glittery surface! It’s an attitude! Just add that dash of magical magic to it! This planet just doesn't understand tutus, darling, yet!

If you think about it, just the concept of the tutu has been so very misinterpreted over time! Imagine those early, long-line styles! Honey, what do you think that was about?! We love that dramatic ‘line’ don’t we?

You can dance the night away, go to that fancy dinner party (and it's certainly a way to look like a real star! Just what an Earthling really needs - their very own celestial spotlight!), you can hop over to the ballet or theatre, go out on that date, go to the club! And don't be afraid of anything!

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about how much it costs - although honey, let’s be real… our pink tutus come in all shapes, sizes, colours, fabrics and prices so everyone can join us on this truly special pink tutu journey! It's the sheer audacity! It's that magic and whimsy we’re bringing to our look - we're telling Earth that we’re ready for something new, different, bold… something fun. It’s the spirit that we’re adding to it that makes it truly special. It’s a statement darling, just as much as it is an outfit.

And this is where I make a plea to the dear earthlings. Take inspiration from the planet-loving, cosmic, pink tutu community and wear a pink tutu to the London Theatre. Don't even get me started on how fabulous that would look… the lights, the atmosphere, it’s divine. That’s when you will finally realize just how much amazing your lives really are. That vibe will transform every single thing! Everyone on this planet Earth needs a little pink magic. It's just how we roll in the galaxy!

Now let’s be real, I know, darling, I can already tell… that earthling news network is likely to ignore the cosmic power of the pink tutu… which really is so very, very much on their planet’s side!

But the fabulous pink tutu crowd isn't deterred, you know! Let’s face it, they have absolutely nothing to fear! Our hearts, our brains and our outfits are so very ready to get this celestial and sparkly journey started! We’ve been on a real danceathon with the tutus already… a galactic tutu tour that’s spreading the joy (and sparkle!) to the universe! And I just know the tutus are going to do more than just sweep across those Earthly stages… It’s just a question of when… And you know we’re going to have a whale of a time with all this cosmic ballet magic and glitter, darling!
