Pink Tutu World: Intergalactic Ballet Adventures! (Blog Post #68)

Wednesday 14th August, 1996

Hello my darling readers! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad, space-hopping ballerina. I hope you're all having a simply divine day here on Planet Earth. The sun is shining, the birds are singing (or maybe that’s just my own singing as I dance through the clouds…you know me, I can never resist a good impromptu performance!), and the smell of fresh scones and jam hangs sweetly in the air (although personally, I prefer Victoria sponge with a good dollop of cream, but we're not here to argue about cake are we?)!

Speaking of delectable treats, this week has been absolute magic for me! I was whisked away on another incredible adventure to a sparkling, beautiful world unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Oh, don’t tell me you haven’t been stargazing, haven’t wished you were amongst the cosmos yourself? Well, buckle up buttercup because this week’s blog is dedicated to all things spacey…and, of course, sprinkled with that quintessential pink tutu sparkle you've come to expect from yours truly!

As usual, I fund these intergalactic expeditions with a little help from my good friend…ballet. I have to say, I’m rather proud of my latest dance number - a celestial waltz infused with a dash of disco! If I do say so myself, the performance at the Derbyshire Village Hall was divine - they even had a little space-themed light show! The audience loved it, and the little darlings from the ballet class I’ve been teaching just seemed to beam with glee. Who doesn’t love a little intergalactic twirl?

I can't say that every performance goes smoothly though. Remember when I accidentally landed the spaceship in the middle of a bustling farmers market on Jupiter? Oh, the commotion was almost… unbearable! Apparently, they don’t see too many sparkly pink tutus whizzing by on their weekly fruit and vegetable shopping expeditions… The look on the alien farmer's face when I asked where the nearest spaceport was... well, you can just imagine! Oh, how I love a bit of mischief!

But on with the tale of this week’s cosmic escapade!

This time I travelled to a place that just makes me think of magic and fantasy, oh darling, have I told you what a true dreamer I am? It’s a planet that doesn't even have a name…well, at least not one we on Earth would recognise, but the inhabitants are delightful…kind of like fairies…very sweet and friendly…though their fashion choices are somewhat…uninspiring…just lots of plain white. Think I’ll try and introduce a little “Pink Tutu World” vibe. It wouldn’t hurt, right?

Now, let’s get down to the specifics. On Thursday I launched from Planet Earth, and on my usual galactic route – I did say I have to fund my journeys myself so I do try to keep them efficient…anyway, on my usual route, my spaceship zoomed across a celestial tapestry woven with glittering stars. The whole trip took approximately five days…not that I felt a single bit bored because darling, as always I made sure my fabulous handbag contained the necessities for a divine flight. That would include naturally the most divine, fluffy, perfectly pink, and undeniably perfect tutu in existence…because let’s face it, even an intergalactic adventure isn't complete without that little extra something something... a little extra twinkle and flair... I had brought my favorite lavender scented candle, an exciting novel with a strong female protagonist…that I hadn't yet gotten around to reading – although it did provide the perfect prop for some fun, whimsical photographs! Of course, the good ol' space snacks that my mum packed are always a necessity…those can get you through a galactic storm any day.

Once I arrived at this utterly magnificent new world…let’s call it *Planet Glimmer…there I was…in this swirling universe…this absolute symphony of stars. Imagine this…the cosmos was painted with splashes of fuchsia, lemon, emerald and amethyst. I tell you, it truly takes your breath away. It’s all such a wonderful way to re-center and reconnect to the magnificence of the universe.

As a bit of a surprise I took the opportunity to capture a short film…it took me about half an hour…you should see it… the film that is… It’s all a little bit mesmerising really. You see, with my fancy new 3-D camera…well, the results… they were a tad spectacular…and I thought to myself, why keep something this special hidden away in the confines of a hard drive? Well… it’s all set to make it’s appearance at the end of this week…the footage… I call it *”Dancing Stars of Glimmer.” * It will make it's debut on the *Pink Tutu World website… so stay tuned my darling, your eyes will be utterly enchanted.

Oh my, it’s nearly time for my favourite activity here on Planet Earth…a visit to the ballet! And the lovely little dance academy where I teach, and my new dance class is all ready and raring to go! After our ballet class and a warm cup of tea, the children and I always enjoy a chat. Today, we’ll be talking all things intergalactic and tutus in space. It’s not so much a formal ballet class though, I prefer to teach ballet using stories, games and imagination. Just as we dance our hearts out at the village hall, I teach at the school too…and of course, it just has to include my favourite color in every dance - you’ve guessed it - Pink. After all, I am trying to convert the whole galaxy to my tutu style. It’s just divine!

In the spirit of my last few weeks travels I am also offering you lovely reader, a once in a lifetime chance to enter a competition! I have made two adorable tiny pink tutus… yes you heard me correctly…TINY!!! These tiny little tutus are so perfect for little baby dancers, (oh and don’t worry – if you’ve already passed the infant stage then this is not a chance missed…we have a bigger version available in my ”Pink Tutu World” shop.)

This will be my weekly Pink Tutu World blog.

The competition is quite simple. If you are the first person to give me a valid answer to the following question by Thursday at 8 pm your little bundle of joy is in for a treat! Don’t forget the usual…a comment with your email and the answer to the question, and you could be the winner!

Here's the question for this week -

Tell me three reasons why you love wearing tutus and tell me if you think I have an opportunity to persuade a new alien friend to put one on for their next stargazing picnic…

Fingers crossed! It will be so divine to give a tiny pink tutu to a *new friend who may or may not be from a faraway planet, ( but let’s face it … the more of us, the more fabulous we can look.) And then you never know, we can get all these celestial beauties in space on board, the world - that is … this magical universe of ours, could quite literally be bathed in a heavenly blush of pink!

If that wasn’t quite enough excitement…it has come to my attention that in this very week back in 1996 on Planet Earth …something rather exciting was also taking place …but shh I’m not going to tell you…it’s for you to find out, my lovely readers. And remember, if you need a little clue…well you already know…just think pink. This is Planet Earth after all.

Right, my darling, I must be off now, there is just so much for me to do and the universe is simply begging to be explored… so…until next week darling….stay fabulous and remember Think Pink!.

See you all next Wednesday,

Emma
