A Most Splendidly Pink Journey to Planet Earth
Hello my darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing interstellar ballerina, writing to you live from Planet Earth! It's Wednesday again, so that means another glorious dose of Pink Tutu World for all of you lovely Earthlings. As usual, my heart is bursting with stories of fabulous journeys, fabulous tutus, and oh, how I love telling you all about them!
Today, however, I'm particularly excited! I landed on Earth on a bright Tuesday morning, which for you Earthlings translates to October the 2nd, 1996. Let's just say the world has a lot going on here today, and as a discerning Pink Tutu World traveller, I've taken it upon myself to experience it all. After all, my goal, as always, is to spread the joy of pink tutus far and wide, and Earth, with all its hustle and bustle, is the perfect place to do it!
Before I even left my spaceship (yes, my spaceship, the one that makes a delightful "pink-whirr" sound when it travels through the cosmos, and has a lovely fluffy pink chaise lounge in the back!) I decided to catch up on the news here on Earth. Now, this is something I'm always fascinated by! I love learning about all the things happening on your delightful little planet. Well, I say little, it’s rather grand, really! You Earthlings are quite a lot, and I love seeing how all of you do things. The newspapers here are something else, with all these brightly coloured photographs and stories about every single bit of business going on. There's so much news, it’s no wonder it fills so many pages!
It turns out, today’s a big day for some really fascinating stuff. In Australia, the country where they speak like they've got a mouth full of marmalade (but in a good way!), they're having their annual Royal Melbourne Show. Can you believe it?! Animals, competitions, all that fun! Now I've been to a few cattle shows in my time (you should see the calves in the Andromeda Galaxy!), but apparently Earthling Royal Shows have a real je ne sais quoi. It seems there's all this talk about butter and things called "sheepdog trials". I’ve always found animals rather endearing, so this just fills me with glee. I think a pink tutu at the Royal Melbourne Show would go down an absolute treat! Can you just imagine? All the Earthlings and the animals dressed up! It's just pure magic, darling.
While Australia is celebrating its rural heritage, America is having a little something called the Grammy Awards! Can you imagine, getting an award for making music?! Now, don’t get me wrong, Earthling music can be utterly divine, and sometimes quite dramatic – it is an excellent tool to accompany a particularly lovely, long pirouette (although it's never quite reached the level of my pink symphony on the planet Nebulon), but to receive an award for something like that?! You can just see all the fancy tutus out and about for an event like that. They'd certainly need to be made with the most delightful, sparkling, sparkly sequins for such a momentous occasion. It makes me want to get back to my little atelier (don’t tell the universe, but I’m building my spaceship a fabulous secret studio where I make the most enchanting tutus just for me!), get out my fabrics and start designing!
Then, on this very same day, in Switzerland, some Earthlings are getting ready to do something a little less formal: they are taking part in the annual "Festivities of the Harvest." Now, this seems like a really nice, traditional celebration, involving music, dancing, and of course, plenty of food! And I do love food! In fact, that’s what makes my travels around the universe so exciting. Tasting delicious treats, watching delightful cooking shows. It’s all part of the adventure. And yes, darling, a good pink tutu definitely goes with the harvest! Can you imagine me twirling in my soft pink tulle with all the fruits of the earth? Simply glorious!
And you know what? My travels today, my darlings, have convinced me to embark on a truly epic quest. You see, in these news stories, it seemed like people on Earth are doing things their own way, and they're celebrating the things that are important to them, even if those things are different from place to place. Well, you know how I love differences and unique personalities! So I’m determined to make Pink Tutu World, a universe that brings out the sparkle in each and every one of us. That’s my dream, my dears. For us to all twirl, and be able to express our own personal styles, no matter how individual or fantastical they may be.
It's been said that fashion is a powerful way to communicate, darling. And so, in a grand finale for this glorious, delightful journey, I shall share a little something about the Earth's most fashionable trend of the 1990s: Grunge. I must admit, the name “grunge” doesn't sound quite as heavenly as “pink tutu”, but as my fabulous style advisor (he’s a purple-tutu-clad Andromedian named Flory!) said, “Style comes in all sorts of forms.”
Well, you'll have to understand that on my pink spaceship, Flory is responsible for picking out the outfits I take with me on each trip, ensuring my look fits in with the trends of each place I visit. (That’s where my special talents come in. After all, I've been travelling for so long I always have something in my collection to adapt! Why, Flory himself got me to change my favourite pink tutu for a slightly darker colour - not black of course, darling, you don’t wear black on a galactic trip! We chose a shade called "Purple Plum", and I tell you it was rather beautiful.) Now back to grunge. This trend here is about looking a little less sleek and a little more relaxed, even a bit messy. Can you believe it? They wear loose shirts with holes, faded jeans (it all looks rather crumpled to be honest, darlings!), and they’ve got a real fascination with all things denim.
The fact that grunge can actually be considered a "style" tells you how creative humans on Planet Earth are. Even the messiest, more disheveled looks on this planet can somehow turn into something considered fashionable. And I've always loved a good challenge. So while you Earthlings wear your faded clothes and boots, I’ll take you back to the pink sparkle with an enchanting pink tutu! But this is the wonderful thing about pink. It works with everything!
So my little Earthlings, do you want to know a secret? I’m looking for you! Who among you is interested in putting on their own Pink Tutu and helping me transform this whole world into one of glorious pink? After all, we're all about inclusivity, darling, so no matter what colour or shape your tutu, come and join me!
Before I close this blog post, my darlings, I have one last little secret to share: in just two days, you know, October the 4th, the famous Earthling, George Clooney, is going to be making a speech for my favourite brand, Nespresso. Now I can't resist a cup of coffee now and then, you know, particularly on a Tuesday when my ship's in orbit! What could be more enchanting than watching him on my spaceship monitor? Oh, how I just adore those Earthling films he’s in. And I think those espresso capsules he sells are a great invention too! Now there's a company with vision, just like me. They understand the finer points of coffee culture - how to savour every sip, and have a great big "pinch" of pink. (But don't tell Nespresso I said that!).
Well, this post has become so exciting and delightful, I feel I have to end it here. It has just filled my pink tutu heart with joy! But of course, darling, Pink Tutu World returns next Wednesday, and I simply cannot wait to bring you the next part of my travels. But now, I need to catch up on my ballet, a tutu needs practice, even when travelling the universe.
Until next time!
*Bisous, *
Emma
