Pink Tutu World: Planet Earth - Blog Post #118 - 30th July 1997

Oh darling, you won’t believe what an absolutely divine week it’s been!

I know, I know, you’re thinking: "Emma, how can it possibly top last week's adventure on Jupiter? We all thought that was the ultimate in galactic chic!" But, my dearest readers, let me assure you, this week's adventure, here on Earth, truly surpassed all expectations. It was a veritable cornucopia of fabulousness!

It's Wednesday again, so here I am, fresh from my very early morning ballet class at the Derbyshire Dance Academy, ready to regale you with the delightful happenings of my time back on Earth.

Firstly, let's talk about fashion. Earth, as you know, is a haven for couture, especially when it comes to shoes and hats. It's an absolute treasure trove for any discerning fashionista. And you know what? After being in space for a couple of weeks, I confess, I had developed an absolute craving for a proper shoe shop.

The little cobbled alleyways in London are just teeming with adorable little boutiques that smell of leather and lace. My dear friend Amelia took me to this little place in Notting Hill, you know the one? The one with the bright pink awning and the shelves overflowing with velvet boxes? We just had to go in! Honestly, darling, they had every colour, every size, and every imaginable embellishment. We could have spent the entire afternoon just browsing, but we had a show to get to.

Speaking of shows... Let’s get straight to the highlight of the week, shall we? The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden. Honestly, my darling readers, it was divine! This is what Earth is all about! A classic production of "Giselle" that brought the house down, literally. My favourite scene? The dance of the Wilis! I swear, there was actual magic in the air! These young ballerinas floated through the stage with the most exquisite grace, all adorned in the most perfect, pristine white tutus – their swirling movements making my own heart practically soar!

Speaking of tutus, of course, I had to visit the costume department. Can you imagine? An entire room devoted to the most fabulous creations – tutus of every size, shape and colour! Silk, velvet, feathers... my inner ballerina just went bonkers! There's a bit of the costume designer in me you know! I love to experiment with designs! A few little tweaks here and there... you know?

But of course, darling, no trip to Covent Garden is complete without a trip to The Royal Opera House Shop. It’s a glorious little shop, crammed with every imaginable ballet trinket. From tiny porcelain ballerina figurines to a silk scarf with the official logo, it had everything. Of course, I had to take home a few little things for myself and a rather lovely antique pink velvet hat, but I won't mention names. 😉

Now, you'll be wondering, darling, about what this trip to Earth really means to you, my faithful readers.

This, darling, is exactly what I aim for with these expeditions – to inspire! What do I mean? Well, imagine, just imagine, an Earth full of pink tutus!

Think of the sheer beauty of it. Imagine streets bustling with adorable little ballerina shoes, sparkling with gems. Can you see it? All shades of pink: bubblegum, flamingo, blushing pink, candy floss… We can do this!

Of course, my pink tutu, it was in my travel bag with me at all times! Just in case! And oh, let me tell you, seeing the look on people’s faces, particularly children, when they spot my tutu – absolute magic!

What’s next? Well, Earth is still calling for me, my darling, but for now, we must jet off to... drumroll please! The Isle of Man!

The ballet world never stops, darling! It is thriving! They are having a brilliant ballet festival, full of international dancers! Oh, and I have the most brilliant plan, involving an enormous pink ribbon, to really spice things up...

Keep those tutus twirling, darling! Stay stylish and never, ever, let your heart stop dreaming!

Until next Wednesday, darlings,

With love and pink sparkles,

Emma
