Pink Tutu World: Blog Post #153 – A Whirlwind Trip to Planet Earth!

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing cosmic traveller, Emma, back from another intergalactic adventure! I'm so thrilled to be back on my home planet, Planet Earth, for a quick pit stop before heading off to Alpha Centauri – they're having a spectacular ballet festival that I just must attend!

Today is 1st April, 1998, which means I have to do my favourite thing - dancing! I just adore the history of ballet, from its roots in the Renaissance courts to its modern, thrilling innovations. This trip, though, is all about celebrating Earthly dance! You know me, I live for a good tutu!

Before we talk tutus, though, let's discuss the spaceship journey. The journey to Earth, as you may know, was a bit bumpy this time! A stray asteroid took us off course for a while - very nearly ended up in a black hole! But thankfully, our captain managed to navigate out of the mess. The Universe can be so unpredictable sometimes.

And, I’m just not sure what the universe has planned for my visit this time – oh it’s just such a whirlwind here!

Talking of whirlwinds, my travel wardrobe this time was divine. My new sequined galaxy-print tutu – you have to see it – paired with a pair of shimmery moon boots, a little sparkle of space dust sprinkled in my hair (very 90s! but chic nonetheless) – a complete masterpiece! I know some people say you need to keep it simple while space travelling, but a girl's gotta express her love for pink and sparkles wherever she goes, right? I mean, come on! The universe is full of such dazzling beauty and colour - how can you not want to wear something pretty?

Okay, enough about my travelling outfit (though it really was stunning!). I mentioned I have a very special ballet appointment. Today, I'm attending a performance at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. It's Giselle! Oh, such a romantic story of betrayal and passion, perfect for the dreamy mood of a Thursday. So much tutu potential! The ballerinas at the Royal Ballet are so incredibly talented. I have to see Giselle at least once every time I'm back on Earth! I even brought a special new pink tutu just for the occasion. This one is a true masterpiece - made with hand-sewn fabric and the most intricate embroidery of sparkling pink flowers - It makes me feel like a princess from another planet (maybe one where everything is covered in fluffy pink clouds).

Speaking of pink tutus... You know, there's a story in this pink-tutu-loving soul! My little self, barely taller than a teacup, saw my first tutu, a bright fuchsia-pink masterpiece, at the Derbyshire County Show. It wasn’t at a ballet, it was actually on display on the local baker’s stand next to the giant chocolate cake and the giant gingerbread house, both with perfectly executed ‘pink tutu’ frosting – the local bakers had created this stunning tutu cake and that little, tutu-loving girl (yes, me!), was entranced! So that first memory was definitely about cake! But the tutu became an iconic moment – I just had to have a tutu of my own, and a pink one at that! My Mum found me a fabulous pink tutu, and it started it all! It is, of course, part of the reason why I want to see everyone, absolutely everyone, in a pink tutu!

Since then, it’s been ballet performances galore – it’s been my entire life. I was just a toddler when I had my first dance lesson at the local studio. My teachers always said I had a special spark – the twinkle in my eye, they’d say. I don’t think they knew what they were letting themselves in for with a girl who had to be wearing a pink tutu all the time!

But I love sharing my passion for dance! That’s what this blog is all about, you see. My ambition? A universe of pink tutus! Think about it! A cosmic dance floor! Millions of swirling pink tutus all twirling in the cosmos. And wouldn’t that be just amazing? It's the ultimate goal: a dance where everybody’s welcome, from every planet! Can you imagine the beauty, the joy, the utter perfection of that vision? It’s truly a utopian dream!

As for Earth, you're doing an excellent job at pink tutus! But there is always room for improvement. So get out there, darlings, find that pink tutu! Don’t forget to check out the ‘Pink Tutu Style Guide’ on my website: www.pink-tutu.com I have added new outfits for travelling, which is perfect, because I think it is important to wear pink wherever we go!

And while you're there, keep an eye out for my new line of cosmic-inspired pink tutus! They're a little extra, a little out there, but perfect for any celestial dancer. It includes a "black hole tutu" with twinkling black rhinestones (I swear, this thing practically sucks you in!) and my "meteor shower" tutu, which is just exploding with tiny glittery pink stars. Think I may do a shoot on Jupiter next – I can’t wait to see my tutu sparkling in the light of the largest planet in our solar system! And it is not to be missed, darlings!

The new line includes a limited-edition ‘Emma Signature Series’ pink tutu! Oh my, this tutu, is quite possibly the most spectacular tutu of all time. And I just can’t wait for the world to see it – so watch this space!

I do love how much you lovely earthlings appreciate your local ballet companies, from the grandest of stages to those community performances in town halls, those local classes, the beautiful work that ballet schools are doing to introduce the magic of dance to children - you truly embody the joy and spirit of ballet, just like my ballet class from years back in the local village hall!

Right, time to get going, the cosmic ship is waiting for me. It's off to Alpha Centauri for a really spectacular ballet performance, a bit of stargazing, maybe a new dress or two, and most definitely, more tutus, because you can never have too many pink tutus!

Till next time, don’t forget to check back for Blog post #154 next Wednesday at 10 am (Planet Earth time!). And always remember, wear pink, wear tutus, and dance like nobody’s watching! Because even if you think no one is watching – I am, darling. I am always watching! And wishing you all happy twirls until then!

Lots of love,

Emma xx
