Pink Tutu World: Blog Post #164 - Intergalactic Tutu Adventures on Earth - June 17th, 1998

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World! I'm Emma, your cosmically chic correspondent from Derbyshire, England, here to bring you the latest on my celestial fashion escapades and the all-important tutu revolution.

This week, we're staying closer to home, returning to planet Earth for a grand twirl amongst the earthly delights! You know I love nothing more than hopping on my spaceship and zipping off to explore new galaxies, but there's something truly magical about the simple pleasures of this little blue orb.

Speaking of "little blue orb", what a divine summer day it's been! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the breeze carries a whisper of jasmine through the air. The perfect weather for a spot of ballet, wouldn't you say?

Back to the Roots - Earthly Delights

After an exhilarating adventure on the planet Andromeda (where, by the way, I managed to snag a fabulous collection of shimmering violet tutus - I'll be showcasing them in next week's blog!), I felt a pang of homesickness for the good old Earth. The energy here is something else, especially in summer.

And honestly, nothing beats the thrill of a good old-fashioned British ballet performance. I mean, have you ever seen the costumes at the Royal Opera House? Just divine! And the music! Makes your toes tap and your soul sing!

Today, I had the pleasure of witnessing a breathtaking rendition of Swan Lake by the English National Ballet. The choreography was absolutely exquisite, the dancers graceful as swans gliding on water, and the finale brought tears to my eyes, as it always does! I must confess, I was especially mesmerized by the choreography for the "Dance of the Little Swans", and I think I even had a little tear in my eye, you know how much I love Swan Lake!

Ballet & Shopping

No ballet outing is complete without a little indulgence in the fashion world, so naturally, I had to take a detour to Harrods afterwards. I mean, it's the ultimate fashion haven in the whole world! The clothes! The shoes! Oh, I could have stayed there all day!

The highlight of my shopping spree, though? Finding the most beautiful, blush-pink silk tutu in the most exquisite boutique in the entire building. Naturally, it was destined to join my collection. Don't you just love a perfectly pink tulle?

June 17th - A Date to Remember

And while I'm on the subject of Earthly delights, did you know June 17th, 1998, holds a very special place in history? It's the day that the legendary Princess Diana unveiled the redesigned statue of Peter Pan at Kensington Gardens. What a delightful, charming day for a fabulous new piece of ballet history. Oh to have been there! The excitement!

Now, this may sound a tad presumptuous, but I do believe I have a lot in common with Princess Diana! The sheer beauty, the unwavering kindness, the genuine charisma. But let’s be honest - her commitment to style and flair, especially her exquisite sense of pink? Honestly, that’s what makes me adore her the most! And, as you know, pink is absolutely my favorite colour and pink tutus are absolutely the best in the universe.

Let's Keep the Tutu Love Going!

Okay, my dear friends, that’s it for this week’s blog post. And please, don’t be a stranger, do let me know what your favorite ballet or theatre performances were in the comments below. As for my journey, well, my next stop is the dazzling metropolis of Tokyo for a fashion tour and a few ballet lessons at the Japan Ballet Academy, where they are, surprisingly, really big fans of pink tutus! They don’t make the best tutus on planet earth, of course, as you well know, I find the very best tutus at The London College of Fashion and at Sadler’s Wells theatre, where I happen to have found some wonderful pieces of pink and yellow, purple and silver, blue, grey and even brown tutus.

I can’t wait to bring you all the details about my amazing journey next Wednesday, so until then, keep twirling and don't forget: life is better in a tutu! And remember to wear pink!

Until next time, my lovelies!

XOXO,

Emma
