Hello my darling tutus, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new blog post, fresh from the wonderful world of Planet Earth.
This week has been simply sparkling! After a whirlwind adventure to the Andromeda Galaxy last week, it felt good to be back on my home planet. I mean, I'd missed those delicious Earthly strawberries! It's no wonder they say you can't beat fresh fruit.
As you know, dear readers, this planet is where it all began for me. It was on a quaint little street corner in Derbyshire, England where I first felt that irresistible urge to twirl! And the love for tutus? Well, that started on the very day I got my first ballerina doll. Oh, how I dreamt of swirling across the stage like her!
And this week, the dream took on a life of its own!
You see, I was invited to the Royal Opera House in London for a magnificent ballet performance! The dancers were simply exquisite! Their movements were like poetry in motion. I mean, we're talking leaps, pirouettes, and an air of sheer elegance that left me breathless!
As for the story itself, it was a heart-wrenching tale of forbidden love and destiny! A star-crossed ballet dancer and her prince. Let's just say, tears were shed and handkerchiefs were in high demand! It was, of course, the ultimate fairy-tale ending, with a beautifully staged scene where a whole flock of white doves swooped down on stage. Imagine it - doves fluttering amidst the graceful movement! It truly felt like magic!
After the performance, I decided to indulge in a little bit of shopping at Liberty London. It was a complete fashion feast! From vintage gowns to whimsical hats, there were outfits that made my heart skip a beat!
Oh, I found the perfect, gorgeous shade of pink. Honestly, darling tutus, it was a revelation. A perfect mix of vibrant and delicate. Imagine my glee when I also discovered a whole line of accessories - earrings, a handbag, even a tiara, all in that same stunning pink! Now, you know I love a bit of sparkle! I couldn't resist taking the lot! I even bought myself a brand new pink tutu. I think we might be calling her “Rosy”.
Speaking of tutus, did you know, darling readers, that the first known tutus date back to the late 18th century? Can you believe it?! Back then, they were a simple, short, ankle-length skirt. But how times have changed, don't you think? They have come a long way since those humble beginnings!
The design has gone through a major evolution over the years, going from short and simple to extravagant and longer and now we even have tutu styles made out of feather boas and ribbons, sequins and so much more! Every year, designers come up with even more innovative, exciting new styles! Honestly, darling tutus, the possibilities for tutus are truly limitless!
So, darling readers, there you have it - my fabulous trip to London! Now, back to Planet Earth matters!
I have big plans for this week, involving a lot of sparkles and twirling, of course. I'm off to see a show with a dazzling ensemble of street dancers at Piccadilly Circus. There's just something so liberating about ballet out in the open, dancing to the rhythm of the city! It makes the whole world your stage!
I'm so glad you're here to join me, darling readers. Remember, life is like a tutu. It's always best when you twirl in it.
Until next Wednesday, darlings!
With all my love,
Emma. xx
A Bit More About The Royal Opera House
The Royal Opera House is the grand old lady of opera houses in London. Located in the heart of Covent Garden, it's more than just a venue – it's a cultural landmark. Built back in 1858, the Royal Opera House has been a home to some of the world's most incredible performances. It’s also famous for hosting not just opera but also ballet, with the Royal Ballet company as their flagship.
The current building isn't the first Royal Opera House! There have actually been several in its history, with the first opening way back in 1732. You know, if walls could talk! There’s just something captivating about that history!
