Darling, darling, darling, how's my lovely lot on planet Earth doing? My heart is soaring, you're about to read my weekly Pink Tutu World blog - all about what this Pink Tutu loving Ballerina got up to this week.
Fancy Footwork For Fashion
This week started off with a BANG! You won't believe what I've just ordered... a tutu dress for a charity event. I'm going to be dancing at a benefit for a new ballet school for disadvantaged children.
Speaking of tutus... have you seen those new sparkly tutus that are out? They're absolute divine! I just had to buy a new pink one, obviously! It's going to be the perfect piece for my next spaceship voyage - think galactic shimmer!
Speaking of spaceships, I've just booked a voyage to… oh dear, I can't tell you where I'm going. It's all top secret. My friend on Alpha Centauri just gave me some insider tips for my new spaceship design - pink-hued, obviously! Can't wait!
A Pink Tutu Love Affair
Before I talk about the fun of being in a pink tutu, I thought I'd give you a bit of pink-tastic tutu history. You see, my sweet friends, I love pink. Pink is for fashion. And tutus! So what's more glamorous than pink and tutus? The answer, darlings, is absolutely nothing!
Do you know where tutus really became popular? The Paris Opera! Oh, the tutus they wore were a symphony of colour, fabric, and romance - all beautifully captured by Degas in his iconic paintings. Talk about chic, they were revolutionary. The original tulle tutus were short and bouncy, like a ballerina in a bouncy castle. Now, everyone's embracing those romantic ruffles. Pink ones, of course. You can find vintage tutus on ebay you know. And vintage tutus come in the best colours. A little birdie told me you can find gorgeous pink ones on Etsy as well. Don't you dare not go and search! It’s our divine duty to make pink tutus the most fashionable item in the Universe!
So, on to the performance side of things.
You see, you all know, I don't do boring clothes. So the first order of business? I have a serious tutu-hunting session on my schedule - you've got to be on the cutting edge of fashion, my darlings!
The big ballet event I'm attending this weekend is The Royal Ballet in London! The show is "Giselle." It's my favorite ballet story. Oh, the drama! The music! The dancing - they say there's an ethereal feel in "Giselle." It just oozes romance.
And of course, nothing says "romantic" like the ultimate Pink Tutu, worn for the perfect theatrical occasion. It really makes my day! I was even lucky enough to chat with one of the dancers - she's just fabulous! She's been performing ballet ever since she was a little girl. And just like me, she loves wearing a pink tutu on stage. And what a stage it is, The Royal Opera House is truly magnificent - those painted ceilings - exquisite! My Pink Tutu was simply glowing!
Pink Tutu Shopping in London
Before I rushed off to the show, darling, I thought it would be an absolute delight to shop for some new dresses - don’t you just adore those silky, flowy gowns that make you feel like a fairytale princess? Well, in my Pink Tutu, I decided to check out Bond Street - you'll find the most stylish clothes in the universe there! And darling, the boutiques just screamed elegance - those beautiful mannequins are always dressed to the nines - truly an inspiration!
It was such a glorious day.
Later that night, I enjoyed the exquisite beauty of the theatre lights. And when the stage went dark and then erupted with dazzling, breathtaking beauty... well, you just have to see it! That's where I got my new tutu outfit idea for the charity event, oh darling!
Then after, there's this exquisite place - the Cafe Royal - just behind the theatre, just off Regent Street, a place for cocktails, glamour, and fabulous gossip. I spent an hour with friends in a gorgeous silk scarf and high heels and we talked fashion - the new styles we've just seen at the show... and what will we be wearing to next week's opening at the Coliseum, a beautiful historic building. It just demands an equally beautiful Pink Tutu, darling, and I plan to get some creative design ideas! The colours of London in January. Yes, pink. Naturally. And I’ve a little sneak peek for next week’s blog. It’s going to be a BIG Pink Tutu World Week, I’ll just say that!
You just gotta live it up and make every day a Pink Tutu adventure, don't you think?
From My Derbyshire Roots
Speaking of roots, my Pink Tutu journey starts way back, when I was just a little girl dancing in my mother's sewing room! I loved watching those glittery costumes she made for the village shows - pure inspiration. They always had that romantic, dreamy, pink-tastic quality! It makes me smile thinking about it, all those childhood dreams. And you just can't beat that Derbyshire scenery for inspiration either! From our Derbyshire farm to… you know, the galaxies. I think that's how my fashion career began, my darlings. It's an intergalactic journey, this Pink Tutu World.
And then when I discovered ballet in primary school - Oh my! You'll not believe this - we learned 'Dance Little Lady.' You wouldn’t believe it, a pink Tutu! It was all about grace, elegance and the loveliness of being a lady. I just had to find out about all those glorious dancers in the books - ballerinas like Pavlova, Karsavina and Margot Fonteyn. It was absolute bliss!
But I know I haven't always been wearing pink tutus...
You may think this is crazy but my mum told me she used to think, way back, that I was more interested in playing the piano, (with little ballet shoes in the corner of the room! ). Now that was truly a sign, dear, of a Pink Tutu World ahead, darling!
She was totally wrong - I had the ballet bug, and all I dreamed about was that magical feeling of pirouette, leaps, and, of course... pink. I just had to twirl.
So after all these years I'm just back in that same little sewing room - the room I had as a child - and I’m sitting on the floor amongst the fabric - all pink of course. Now you know where my magic pink tutus come from. The latest ones that is! My vintage collection is much bigger and, well, a bit older than this sewing room.
You'll be surprised at just how many tutus I've gone through in the last twenty years. I'm talking about hundreds! Oh darling, I love collecting the most elegant pink tutus you can imagine! And let’s just say they don't last forever. After each show and each performance... it's all down to cleaning and repairing and making sure each Pink Tutu is absolutely perfect for the next one! I am so blessed to live a life filled with dancing and tutus. They both bring joy and sparkle. What more could you want?
Tutus: A Fashion Phenomenon
Tutù… you know, the French word for tutu... Oh it’s an elegant word, my darling. Tutus and I are one. It’s in my blood, like an elegant, pink thread in the fabric of the Universe, binding my journey together. A journey full of sequins, lace, tutus... oh dear!
What I love most about a Pink Tutu is how magical and elegant they look. I really do believe they hold the power to bring happiness and joy! It’s a whole fashion movement and Pink Tutù World just loves it.
But more than just looking fantastic, darling, I find a true Pink Tutu connects me with everyone. My Tutu-sisters! Oh how we laugh when we're dancing in them. They make me want to go dancing. And you know that any Pink Tutu is better than a white one, right?! I think the bright pinks and hot pinks give a fantastic boost to your energy and really show that your are living your life to the fullest. A true Pink Tutu is not about matching a colour theme but about having fun, freedom, being joyful, and dancing. Dancing. Darling, you’ve just got to give it a whirl! It just makes me feel happy to spread this message of joy across the galaxy and make new friends wearing fabulous Pink Tutùs. That’s my motto, darling!
But sometimes there are times when it's a little bit of a challenge.
Like what I found when I went to visit that fantastic space ballet school in Andromeda, which has a massive building for workshops... you wouldn’t believe what they had… you’re going to love this! They’d got these incredible life-size ballet statues from planet Alpha Centauri! Absolutely amazing... dressed in… you’re going to hate this… purple tutus! You see darling, that's my next mission!
Now, darling, you wouldn't believe it! My latest travel plans are a top secret - I can't reveal my itinerary for next week, but my dear friend - you know her! Miss Violet, she is the one! Miss Violet of course, is going to join me! It's going to be fun, fun, fun, oh and just wait for those Pink Tutu photos!
A Fashion-tastic Adventure
So there it is. This has been a week filled with pink, glitter, dance and laughter - my usual, darling! I just know you love hearing all about my very special Pink Tutu life and those amazing trips to faraway galaxies. So keep up with me on my website www.pink-tutu.com and see you on Planet Earth this week for next Wednesday's blog. You know what's going to be on the menu? Pink tutus, darling! I wouldn’t dream of it being any other way.
Your very best friend in all of creation,
Emma
