Helloooo, my gorgeous darlings! 💖 It's your favourite tutu-tastic travel blogger, Emma, and boy, oh boy, have I got a tale for you! Get ready for a whirl of tutus, a dash of dazzling theatre, and a generous sprinkling of, well, pink - because today, my lovelies, we're taking a trip to the birthplace of ballet itself - France! 🇫🇷
As you know, this Wednesday, June 6th, 2001, finds me orbiting a new planet, absorbing a new culture and, most importantly, investigating the history of tutus, both past and present! ✨
Now, you all know my love of history, especially ballet history, and what better place to be on this day than the heart of this enchanting art form?
This week, I've been totally in awe of all things Parisian - the fashion, the architecture, the café culture… and of course, the breathtaking ballet!
Speaking of breathtaking… let's get right into the heart of this magical adventure! 💖
Tutu Tour de Force
Right from landing at Charles de Gaulle, it felt like I'd stepped onto the stage of a dream. It was like stepping into one of my favourite old ballets - like a pink scene from the Sleeping Beauty or even a sparkly Swan Lake. Every street corner was like a scene straight out of a storybook!
I landed right in the city centre and, as a proper Pink Tutu-er, went straight to the famous Palais Garnier opera house - a magnificent building so grand it practically demanded a dramatic pirouette from the minute you stepped onto its cobbled steps!
I spent a whole day inside, gasping at the sheer grandeur of its ornate design, taking in every little detail, from the gold-leafed carvings to the intricate chandelier - each one a miniature masterpiece!
The most dazzling surprise came with a trip behind the scenes - a hidden gem even I hadn’t spotted on my ballet map! 😲
I got to see the magical costumer's atelier – the very workshop that created the ballet costumes for all those amazing dancers, a wonderland of silks, satins and feathers, a vision of colour, a haven for the most beautiful pink tutus you could imagine! I had to do a little pirouette! ✨
Speaking of costumes… my own Pink Tutu game was on full power this trip, naturally. A bright pink ballet skirt and a sheer pink top, with loads of sparkly, pink diamante – the perfect outfit for strolling through the city and feeling like the Queen of Parisian Chic! It turned heads for sure, even got a few admiring stares from a couple of totally cute Parisians, but hey – this pink tutu isn’t afraid of a little attention! 😄
From Stage to Street
And what would a trip to the capital of ballet be without seeing some truly outstanding performances? My heart literally skipped a beat when I took my place in the audience at the Palais Garnier, and witnessed the ultimate French classic – Giselle.
Every delicate gesture, every soaring leap, every heartfelt emotion was brought to life before my eyes, leaving me with that magical feeling you get when a truly perfect ballet is in motion.
The beauty of this historic venue and the sheer brilliance of the dance left me speechless! The music, the costumes, the drama… everything! Just beautiful! 💖
I can’t wait to go back again! And my travels through France haven’t just been about ballets in grand theatres… because ballet, my dears, is everywhere you look!
It was a joy to wander through Paris, spotting ballet-inspired street performances in every park, even enjoying a little “street-ballet” lesson myself. 💖 Let’s just say, my dance teacher was a little too impressed by my Pink Tutu for his liking! But we’ll let him off with a good-humoured chuckle - he didn't want to see me give that special performance he was requesting... 😏
Pink Tutu’s Take Away
There’s so much more I could share - my shopping expeditions for adorable pink tulle at Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, exploring the delightful Jardin du Luxembourg with its delightful fairytale fountains… Even learning a little French in between petit éclairs and lots of bubbly – (always a must for a Pink Tutu-er!), and having to admit – those pink croissants and pastries... just delicious! 😄
Every step, every delicious mouthful, every breathtaking dance move - this entire French experience was absolutely a ballet masterpiece in its own right. A stunningly colourful whirlwind of pink! 💖
Stay tuned for the next stop on the Pink Tutu tour! And for all of you Pink Tutu-ers out there… who is joining me?… Because my next post will reveal our next galactic adventure… a mystery planet… and a dance challenge that will get everyone spinning with excitement… *are you ready? ✨
Until next week, lovelies!
Always dance your dreams, Emma 💕
