Planet Earth Blog Post #33: Pink Tutu World Travels: A Ballerina's Intergalactic Adventures

Hello, darlings!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another pink-tastic blog post from your favourite interstellar ballerina! I'm writing to you from Planet Earth, my home planet (at least for the time being!), after an absolutely fabulous trip to... well, let's just say outer space!

It's been quite the week, and I've got so many thrilling stories to share. But first, a little fashion update: did you catch my stunning performance on Monday at the Ballet in the Boroughs competition? My leotard, a custom-designed number from Madame Choux's Atelier in London, was a dazzling emerald green with a hint of shimmering turquoise. Naturally, I paired it with my favourite hot pink tutu - I mean, what else could I wear? It brought the house down, let me tell you! The judges even gave me a special award for "Best Performance in a Pink Tutu" – and trust me, with those sparkly gold embellishments on my skirt, that wasn't a standard category!

Now, on to my recent adventures. On Tuesday, I hopped in my spaceship (still haven't decided on a proper name for her yet!) and took off for…well, that's the exciting part! You see, sometimes I don't actually know where I'm going when I travel. I just point the ship towards the cosmos and see where it takes me!

A Celestial Discovery!

This time, it led me to a celestial body I've never encountered before: Planet Tututopia! (Don't worry, I'm planning on naming it officially and everything). It's a beautiful place, just drenched in hues of pink and purple, like someone had tipped an entire pot of paint across the atmosphere! I landed in a charming little village called Ballerina's Bluff (I think I may need a bit more practice with naming!), and you won't believe what I discovered.

The people of Tututopia - who call themselves "Tututians," if you can believe it! - all wear tutus. And I don't mean just on special occasions or during dance classes, no, they wear tutus every single day! Even the adorable little Tututian babies! It was heaven. I immediately whipped out my sketching pad and snapped a thousand pictures.

You wouldn't believe the variety, darling! There were glittery rainbow tutus, fluffy lilac tutus, sequined silver tutus, even green tutus! But the best part? There wasn't a single black tutu in sight! I nearly fainted with delight.

A Royal Ballet Encounter

After spending a delightful couple of hours learning a few simple Tututian folk dances (I managed to translate them with the help of my trusty pocket dictionary, of course), I decided to venture further into the village.

To my complete astonishment, I stumbled across a royal palace! And guess what? The Queen herself, a beautiful woman in her 50s with flowing silver hair, was giving a private ballet performance for her court! She danced so beautifully! I actually started to tear up a bit, the emotion was overwhelming! The royal ballerina, you see, was dancing a story ballet based on an old Tututian legend about a magical pink tutu that brought joy and beauty to their planet. How absolutely divine!

The queen (whose name was – you're never going to believe this - Queen Tutudella, what a name!) had the kindest heart you could imagine. She welcomed me into the palace, and we had the most delightful afternoon tea. We spoke for hours, and I shared stories about Planet Earth with her. I even taught her a bit of "The Swan Lake" - she had a natural grace and seemed to pick it up instantly!

I promised to return soon for a more in-depth tututing and tea session! And to the surprise of both of us, she promised me a tututing contest in her honour the following year. It's the only one of its kind, you know, because on this planet every single person knows how to wear a tutu! Can you imagine that, my lovelies?

I think I've finally found my next competition! I can’t wait! I’ve got my eyes on that ā€œBest Pink Tutu in the Universeā€ crown already. The world is my stage, you see! I might just find myself spending all my time on this wonderful pink-hued planet. Maybe I should think about setting up shop there. How many ballerina-obsessed tutu shops do you see in the galaxy, my love?

But I mustn’t get ahead of myself! There is still so much to explore in the cosmos.

Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth!

Before I sign off, I thought I'd share a little about what's going on back home, on the lovely green-and-blue sphere we call Planet Earth.

I found an incredible little vintage shop on Carnaby Street in London the other day! I'm afraid I went slightly beserk, and purchased about half the stock. Don't worry, it will be going straight to my Pink Tutu World shop. My biggest find? A magnificent pink sequined leotard with some very daring and extremely chic cutouts in the back, paired with a tutu crafted from thousands of silk roses! I must say, my fellow ballerina lovers, I was born to wear this! I know, it’s perfectly ridiculous. But that is what the pink tutu is about – pure fun!

I also found the cutest pink tutus at Liberty London. My collection keeps growing - you know me!

On Thursday, I will be heading down to my favourite dance shop, Ballet Essentials, to collect some new Pointe shoes and perhaps treat myself to another pair of bright pink ballet tights. If you need any dance equipment, darlings, head over there! The shop owner, Mr. Beaumont, knows his stuff, and you won’t get better quality anywhere in the entire solar system. Seriously.

Oh, and if you’re still with me, darlings, a fun fact about Planet Earth that might surprise you – there’s a huge concert on Thursday, the 22nd of August, with Pink!* What’s more, she's totally into tutus! We share a taste for all things pink. I had to snag tickets. This could turn into a massive fashion disaster, you know! But honestly? I can't resist anything that even remotely involves a pink tutu. Especially a massive concert. The opportunity for fashion statements! The possibility for a fashion frenzy! Oh my, it's too exciting.

As you can see, there's never a dull moment in my world. The pink tutu opens so many doors, it really does! I truly believe that life is an intergalactic ballet. And guess what, loves? I’m here for the entire performance. Every sparkly pink tutu step. Every twirling, jumping, pirouetting moment.

So stay tuned for my next blog post next Wednesday!

Until then, twirl on, my sweet, fabulous loves.

XOXO, Emma
