Pink Tutu World Blog Post #332: Ballet on Planet Earth: A Touch of Pink in the Milky Way!

Hello my darling tutu-loving friends! Emma here, reporting live from…well, actually I’m still in Derbyshire, England! Yes, believe it or not, this little corner of the universe still holds my heart, despite all the galactic wonders I've witnessed. But don't fret, a new adventure is brewing, and this time, the journey will involve an interstellar trip. Oh, how my heart flutters with anticipation!

But before we take off, I need to talk about the reason we landed on Earth this week: BALLET!

And what better way to celebrate the beauty of this art form than to immerse myself in a classic? You know me, I’m all about the history, the tradition, and the gorgeous costumes (hello, tutus!). Today I spent a magical afternoon at the Royal Opera House, London, witnessing the elegance and grace of Giselle – an enchanting, romantic tale with some truly breathtaking dance sequences. Oh, the twirls, the leaps, the drama, the sheer artistry!

I can't help but reflect on the enduring magic of ballet. This is an art form that transcends time and space, that resonates on a deeply emotional level. Every pirouette, every jeté, is a brushstroke on the canvas of our imagination, creating breathtaking portraits of passion, longing, and joy.

Speaking of costumes, Giselle delivered in spades. From the billowing white tutus of the innocent villagers to the hauntingly beautiful black tutus of the Wilis, every garment seemed to dance right alongside the ballerinas. I have a confession – I found myself taking notes! And I’m already imagining all the pink hues I can add to my tutu collection to celebrate the romanticism and otherworldly beauty of Giselle! (Yes, my fellow fashionistas, you guessed it - more tutus are coming!)

This trip wasn’t all about Giselle though, let's be honest - a trip to London wouldn't be complete without some serious shopping! You know me, darling! And believe me, my wardrobe needs a serious overhaul!

After the ballet performance, I snuck off to the glorious Harvey Nichols on Knightsbridge for a bit of retail therapy. It’s truly a wonderous land where even your tutu dreams can come true. I swear, some of those sparkly and flamboyant outfits made me want to bust a move right in the store! Sadly, my current Tutu-Verse fashion motto remains 'No tutu-wearing ballerina should ever do that'. But if I ever break that rule, it will certainly be at Harvey Nichols.

The shopping escapade was followed by dinner at The Ivy – a London institution! And believe me, the decor there is an inspiration unto itself! The floral prints, the glamour, the perfect balance between classic and modern…. it was an excellent prelude to my intergalactic trip!

Of course, every journey begins with careful preparation! Before I head to the stars, I needed to pick up some things from my local Derbyshire shop, 'Little Pink’. And by things, I mean, all the pink glittery accessories you could possibly dream of: hair clips, tiaras, a pink sequined handbag and a brand new pink glitter tutu. I have to be ready to share the pink magic with the cosmos! Oh, I almost forgot about my 'Space Tutu' – my favourite pink number, featuring iridescent sequins, which is designed to glow in the dark! It makes a truly spectacular show out of every landing on a new planet.

Now, back to those interstellar journeys… I mentioned that a new galactic adventure awaits. Let me just say this - it's a destination filled with even more ballet inspiration! This time, we're heading to a planet renowned for its innovative contemporary ballet, and I'm determined to experience the beauty of dance in a whole new light. (Imagine that, ballet under a double sun! Just the thought gives me goosebumps! )

Remember my goal: To get everyone in the universe wearing a pink tutu. And you know what? My quest has just begun! So get ready to see a touch of pink in every corner of the universe – starting with a pink tutued trip to this new, amazing planet! Until next time, dear tutu-loving friends! Keep twirling!

Emma x

It’s not just the hottest star but extra hot to boot, making the ultimate shade of 'pink' the universe could ever produce. Think about that when wearing your pink tutus this week. You may just be channeling the cosmic 'pink' of Mu Cephei.
