Hello, darling tutu-lovers! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu World update from yours truly, Emma, your resident intergalactic ballet enthusiast, straight from planet Earth!
The sun's out today, here in Derbyshire, and the birds are singing their hearts out, just like the little ballerina sparrows in my latest dream (I told you, it's not just all pink tutus here! We have a rich fantasy life in Pink Tutu World). Today's a good day, just like every other, but today feels particularly special. And it's all because... I'm going to see a ballet!
Let's just take a minute to appreciate the magic of ballet. From the first pliรฉ to the final grand jetรฉ, ballet is simply magical, isn't it? You've got those beautiful costumes, those elegant leaps, and a story told entirely through movement - it's a total art form!
But it's not just the ballet itself that gets me excited. You see, this is a very special performance, for it marks the beginning of a brand new chapter in my Pink Tutu World saga! Because today, dear readers, I'm going to be performing myself!
Don't get me wrong, I don't quite have the chops to grace the Royal Ballet, but local talent isn't just something I say... I am truly fantastic in my own right, just ask my fellow Earthlings! This afternoon, I'll be performing my signature choreography at the annual Derby Gala! Now, my 'signature choreography' may not involve any pirouettes or arabesques (my legs are a bit wobbly after my latest trip through the asteroid belt), but it's certainly... theatrical. Think more pink tulle, a few fun jumps and lots of dazzling costumes! ๐
Let's backtrack a bit to October 10th 2001, before we get swept up in the ballet world's dazzling magic! What were people talking about back on this date? Well, for starters, the first iPod was released to the public, ushering in the era of on-the-go music (and let's face it, ballet doesn't always come with a killer soundtrack! Thank goodness for our portable music). There were big developments happening in space too. That year, The Space Shuttle Endeavour made its 17th flight to deliver the first parts of the International Space Station. We were entering a whole new era of space exploration and it's no surprise, as you've probably gathered from my blog posts, space is deeply in my heart and soul!
But talking about space isn't enough for me, dear friends! It's going there that counts, and what better way to travel through the vastness of the universe than in a pink spaceship decked out with every possible kind of tutu imaginable!
It wasn't always so grand. My journey into space started in a more humble fashion: a local bus in Derby. And yes, dear readers, that bus was, in fact, pink! This is planet Earth, you see, we've only just begun to accept that pink can be so much more than just a colour - it's a whole lifestyle. And it wasn't always easy, believe me!
Back then, I would stand in the ballet studio day after day, feeling completely lost, completely stuck in my world on Earth. The only thing that pulled me through were my dreams - dreams of galaxies made of shimmering tulle, of interstellar pirouettes and space dances. And those dreams, my dears, helped me break free of this boring, beige world.
Now, before I turn this into an inspirational blog post, (don't worry, I'll save that for another day!), let me just tell you this: after years of taking on part-time jobs as a shop assistant, selling fabric for sewing those divine tutu-skirts, working my butt off, practicing those ballet moves... I finally hit it big! I took my chances at a local talent show, strutted out in a pink-fringed tutu (not a stitch of fabric came close to what I've seen in the galactic markets, but a girl's gotta start somewhere!), and I won first prize!
First prize: that was the day my whole world shifted, changed. It was that golden moment when my planet Earth world - that pink tutu world, turned into our world. Now, I have to say, that first prize came with an offer to do some professional dancing but at this time in my life, space was calling me.
It all started when I received this mysterious invitation: "Welcome to Pink Tutu World... a dance for the universe!" The invite arrived one day with a beautiful hologram, you wouldn't believe the detail: a shimmery-sequined dancer, spinning across a starlit background. Naturally, this could only mean one thing... a galactic invitation!
You're probably thinking, How can an invitation come with an address in space? Well, dear readers, it came in a way no one could have expected... a pink feather from an imaginary magical space-unicorn landed at my feet! What did this signify? The time was now.
You know how they say it? One minute I was on a normal human journey of ballet performances and charity shops selling discounted sequins and pink silk, the next, whoosh, I was blasting off to planet Saturn's 4th moon! (For the Earthlings in the house - that was super cool to hear in those days.) From there, my dance adventure really started...
My journey wasn't just a solo mission. We all need help, you know? And you just never know what adventures a stranger will be ready for - especially when you have a passion for all things pink! Let's face it: you need to believe in the pink world and, trust me, once you get on a pink space-craft you will.
And yes, of course, we talk! How else would we communicate? As the first intergalactic ballet troop, we have the universal dance language.
You see, the point of my little Pink Tutu World journey? (Besides all the beautiful glitter, the breathtaking dance moves, and those amazing outfits? - oh the outfits... let's have another post on the fashion side next week). But really, it's to let everyone in the universe know, that itโs always a good time for ballet and it's always time for pink tutus.
What's more, it's my absolute belief (after all, I'm a professional now, aren't I, even though my dancing mainly takes place on space stations! We can make this work) that pink tutus have a transformative effect on the universe, not to mention the human planet, of course. It's just how I feel about it! When you slip on a fluffy, bouncy, brightly-coloured pink tutu, it lifts your spirit. It makes you feel powerful, beautiful, ready to leap into a dazzling new adventure, whether it be a grand ballet on Earth, a thrilling journey through the cosmos or just a walk around the local shopping mall. Pink tutus, like space itself, just have this magical power!
This week, the magic is coming to Derby and it is not to be missed. You never know, maybe you could catch an eye of the space-unicorn, perhaps it's really been a resident of the UK's second-largest city! It is so lovely that some of the locals have taken the hint, from all my adventures, and decided it's time for the Derby fashionistas to shine in a few pink pieces. The little dance school that has embraced my message... is called 'Dancing Stars!' Isn't that perfect! Now if anyone knows a way to transform a school bus into pink ...
But enough about planet Earth's happenings (we'll be back on this soon enough, but not until after I see what happens after this little performance... it's a bit top-secret!), Let's move back to outer space for a minute:
Did you know, 2001 wasn't just about those groundbreaking technological discoveries? It also marked the beginning of an era of scientific breakthroughs and discoveries related to outer space! Remember "The Rosetta Mission" to comet 67P/ChuryumovโGerasimenko? Launched in 2004, but that all started on October 10th 2001! "Rosetta", a super cool name, I think you'll agree? I wonder why I've never been on board one of those spaceships, as they were exploring what comets were actually made up of?! Who knew! The wonders never end, do they?
That's it from me for today, dear tutu-loving adventurers. Be sure to visit the www.pink-tutu.com website for another blog post this Wednesday!
Until then, stay curious, embrace your pink side, and may your days be filled with glittery magic!
Yours in tulle,
Emma ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐
