Hello my dearest Tutu Tribe! 💖
It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means... a brand new Pink Tutu World blog post for your reading pleasure! This week, I'm whisking you away to the wonders of Planet Earth, a beautiful and vibrant world I've been exploring for the last few weeks. And guess what, I'm actually living it up in the most incredible way: performing my very own ballet shows to fund my interstellar adventures! Talk about fulfilling my dream!
This week, the Earth is buzzing with excitement, as it’s National Ice Cream Day. It seems every planet has their own crazy celebrations and traditions, but it's hard to beat the deliciousness of an ice cream cone on a hot day. Especially if it's adorned with sprinkles, whipped cream, and – yes you guessed it! – a cute pink tutu on top, because wouldn't you know it? My trusty tailor managed to find a fabric as strong as steel but soft as a marshmallow and, I just know that with this innovation, tutus will be making their debut in every intergalactic bakery!
Speaking of dreamy destinations, today’s blog is all about the historical charm of Derbyshire, England. If you’re ever in search of a whimsical trip to the English countryside, this is the place to be. Think lush rolling hills, picturesque villages with stone cottages, and – here’s the best bit for a ballet enthusiast – charming, intimate theatres tucked away in unexpected corners! I love discovering hidden gems and this area of England is brimming with them.
My current mission? Bringing the joy and wonder of ballet to the Earth, one performance at a time!
This weekend I have a performance booked in the lovely town of Matlock, home to the magnificent Matlock Bath Pavilion. Now, let’s talk tutu-worthy history, shall we? Built in 1857 and now Grade II listed, the Pavilion is a Victorian marvel that still houses the most spectacular variety performances! The best part? This beauty has seen it all - from music hall to a cinema to ballroom dancing.
My dear, my Tutu Tribe, you won’t believe what I discovered! In the very same year the Pavilion was built, there was a HUGE revival in tutu styles, with more volume, tulle, and glitter than you could imagine! And guess what? I was all over it. I mean, can a ballerina truly resist the urge to indulge in a little history, fashion, and a generous heaping of tutus?
My Matlock show is just a prelude to a ballet extravaganza at the historic Derby Theatre. Built in 1998, this theatre has become a haven for local performing artists and has been graced by renowned figures in the arts. I'm absolutely ecstatic to be adding my name to the list! And, of course, it wouldn't be a true Emma adventure without some glamorous shopping!
Let me tell you, there are more hidden boutiques in Derbyshire than there are stars in the galaxy, each filled with unique vintage fashion treasures. I even found a few pink tutus - oh yes, they are always in high demand - that are absolutely begging to be worn onstage! Imagine shimmering sequins, vintage lace, and soft pink tulle, oh it's a dancer's dream come true!
Between exploring the local shops and indulging in decadent treats from traditional cafes, I've been taking my daily ballet classes at Derbyshire Dance Centre. You see, keeping fit and practicing are vital when you're a space-travelling ballerina like me. This is my way to make sure I'm always ready for my next intergalactic adventure, whether it's a ballet performance in a distant galaxy or a graceful waltz on a comet's tail!
But you know what I really love about Planet Earth? It's the energy. The people here are passionate, creative, and brimming with life! This is why I keep coming back – the people always surprise me. They embrace the fun and whimsical aspects of life and don’t hesitate to express themselves. It's truly inspiring, and you know what I've noticed? More and more people on this planet are wearing tutus!
It warms my heart to see a touch of pink tulle wherever I go – on young dancers, fashion icons, even some daring gentlemen are joining in! I knew it wouldn't be long before the universe realized the power of a well-chosen pink tutu! It's not just a garment; it's a symbol of freedom, confidence, and above all – a joyful reminder that it's always good to be fabulous.
There's a reason why they call this planet the Jewel in the Milky Way. The sheer beauty and vibrancy here are infectious! So, until next week, stay fabulous, dear Tutu Tribe! Remember, a pink tutu can open any door in the universe. Now, go forth and dance your hearts out!
Love, Emma 💖
