Hello darlings! It’s Wednesday, 2nd October 2002, and guess who’s back? It’s your favourite intergalactic tutu-tastic fashionista, Emma, writing to you live from Planet Earth! I'm so excited to be back on this gorgeous little blue and green globe, feeling the cool, crisp air of Derbyshire. It’s always a joy to come home to my little cottage after travelling the cosmos. Speaking of cosmos… oh my darling readers, let me tell you about my latest adventure!
This week has been an absolute whirlwind. I decided to hop in my trusty spaceship and take a trip to Venus. I had a ballet recital planned with a delightful group of Venusians. Let’s be honest, you can’t say no to a request from someone wearing a gorgeous lime green sequined tutu (the latest Venusian trend - how fab!), especially when the performance is in a volcanic caldera overlooking a breathtaking seascape of liquid sulphuric acid. (Honestly, some planets are so dramatic, darling!) You would not believe the audiences – everyone was a sea of shimmery pastel tutus.
Oh! Did I mention that I met the most divine Venus Fashion Blogger during my time there? We did a little "tut-tut" (hehe, see what I did there?!) exchange on the best places to find gorgeous tutus, especially the multi-dimensional, glowing tutus popular with the young Venusians. Let's just say that her outfit made mine look like a schoolgirl's day out!
After a delightful, bubbly brunch with my new Venusian BFF (Venus’ equivalent of champagne is truly divine – all kinds of delicious fruit flavours!), it was time for the show. We performed a charming and playful adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s "Swan Lake", the main difference being that instead of swans, we were all gorgeous, radiant Venutian nymphs. (You simply must try the swan costumes - oh my, the sparkly feathered layers and the soft shimmering, gold-infused tulle... divine!). I got a standing ovation, darling, the applause must have travelled to Saturn! And afterwards? Well, after the champagne, after the post-show dance party, I simply had to buy myself a little souvenir – an extra-large sparkly lilac tutu with shimmering, metallic Venusian moss. It will make a brilliant addition to my wardrobe, trust me!
Before jetting off back to Earth, I took a few days to relax on the idyllic shores of a lavender lake (a natural phenomena on Venus, apparently) with the sweetest Venusian couple, who were absolutely fascinated by my stories of Planet Earth and its gorgeous fashions. They even showed me how to make their traditional, lavender-infused Venusian cocktails - oh darling, I’ll need to get my little team at www.pink-tutu.com to set up a dedicated Venus fashion blog! This cosmic tutu-tastic world is full of endless possibilities!
But back to our little corner of the cosmos! This week in Derbyshire, I'm looking forward to getting lost in the ballet archives at the wonderful Buxton Opera House (always a good place for some historical fashion inspiration, darling). This week’s performance is an absolute must-see - the famous "The Sleeping Beauty" ballet, I’m hearing rumours it features an impressive new, pink-feathered tutu, oh darling!
To fuel all this dancing, you know I’m treating myself to a delightful tea party at The Tea Room at the Caley. They have the best homemade cakes, I might just try their brand new lemon meringue creation!
So darling, remember to stay glamorous, stay pink, and don't forget to spread some tutu love to your friends. You never know who you’ll meet in the wonderful, shimmering cosmos!
Your ever-fashionable, Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
