Pink Tutu World - Blog Post #397: Planet Earth - 4th December 2002

Darling dears!

Well, here I am again, back on planet Earth, my feet still slightly wobbly after that last epic intergalactic ballet trip!

As always, I'm thrilled to be writing to you from my little corner of Derbyshire, England. You know, the land of rolling hills, charming villages and…well, quite a bit of rain. ☔️ But don't you worry, my lovely readers, my inner pink tutu spirit shines even brighter than the sun after a downpour! ☀️

This week's blog post is a little different. It’s a special "From My Journal" post! I’ve been meaning to write it for ages and this seems like the perfect time.

Let's step back in time to 4th December 2002 - the very day I made my triumphant return to Earth after a stellar, tutu-tastic adventure across the cosmos! Oh my, where to even begin?

It all started, as always, with a vision. A vision of a celestial ballet performance, twinkling stars and glittering galaxies…the stuff dreams are made of! My heart, fuelled by an enormous mug of Earl Grey tea and a sprinkle of glitter, took flight. My dear friend, Penelope (who you might remember from last week's post about that rather chaotic space disco - I still get a shiver just thinking about it!) knew exactly what to do.

We launched into orbit, a swirl of pink tulle and laser beams (Penelope insists on using a bit too much tech on her spaceship, don't you agree?), with a twinkle in our eyes and the whole universe at our fingertips! The stars were our audience, the nebulae our backdrops. The dance? A stunning celestial choreography celebrating the beauty of space and the magic of ballet.

Let me tell you, space is far more spectacular than you can ever imagine! It's a giant, swirling ballet of colours, dust clouds, and twinkling, tiny galaxies that look just like a dancer's diamond studded shoes! 👠 The gravity was definitely different, a little harder to twirl in, but once you get the hang of it, well, let's just say, gravity feels like a forgotten memory! I could literally pirouette endlessly, twirling around black holes, dipping under meteor showers, and spinning in circles amidst constellations that shimmered brighter than any earthly lights! 💫

Oh, and speaking of lights! My favourite part of the entire journey was the moonlit performance of Swan Lake. Can you imagine the sheer majesty? We were on the moon! With the Earth shimmering beneath us, and the stars scattered across the universe like fallen ballet shoes, we waltzed across the moon's dusty surface. The entire scene was breathtakingly beautiful. Even the space pirates we bumped into midway through couldn't stop and admire the scene, they were so mesmerized! (Of course, we gave them the tutus in the end! They were so moved, even the space pirates! My mission: bring ballet, and the pink tutu, to the entire cosmos! And I wouldn't have it any other way!)

Oh, and speaking of the space pirates, they actually led me to a fantastic intergalactic costume shop! I found this absolutely divine, shimmering emerald tutu (matched to perfection, of course, with a pair of deep purple ballet shoes – oh, how I love a clashing colour!) I practically flew back to my ship from sheer excitement! I have already started designing my Space Pirates costume for my next performance - pink tulle and laser guns? Pink tutus and rocket ships? You betcha! 💖

But of course, back to 4th December 2002. I was absolutely delighted to be back on Earth. After all, there’s no place like home!

Well, what have I got on today? Today’s a special day because it's December 4th again! A time for reflection and, of course, for looking to the future! And there's no better way to celebrate than with a fabulous ballet show at the Royal Opera House! (You just can't beat a good classic!)

I will be wearing a very special tutu, hand-stitched from a combination of shimmering sequins, a smattering of silver glitter and - you guessed it! the very same pink tulle from my space voyage! It's even more special for me knowing that the material of this tulle is from a shop on the moon itself. Now, that’s a true story!

I just love sharing these stories with you!

Remember, darlings, be kind to one another, chase your dreams, and always wear your tutus proudly, wherever you are in the galaxy! 💖
