Pink Tutu World: Post 444 – A Ballerina’s Guide to Intergalactic Travel: Earth Edition (29th October 2003)

Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World!

This week, I'm absolutely thrilled to be bringing you an earth-shattering (pun intended!) blog post about a recent trip that truly blew my tutu off – a galactic voyage to planet Earth!

You see, my darling readers, my life as a spacefaring ballerina has been all about discovering the wonder and beauty of our vast universe. And this time, it was Earth’s turn to receive a dose of pink-tutu magic!

Now, let me tell you, after my stellar debut on Jupiter (check out that post, dearies!), it was only natural that I gravitate to our humble little planet – after all, the birthplace of the tutu itself! (It’s an actual thing – you can find a museum here! But more on that later.)

To say I was giddy with excitement about this mission is a massive understatement. You see, this trip had two main objectives:

  1. To spread the pink-tutu love across our solar system, one twirl at a time, of course!
  2. To dive deep into the fascinating history of ballet on Earth, where it all began!

So, strap on your best pair of pointe shoes, my darlings, and join me on this breathtaking adventure – a whirlwind tour of earthly delights!

From Derbyshire to the Cosmos: The Journey Begins!

My trip kicked off on 29th October 2003. (Mark that in your calendars, darling, as it's going to be a date for the history books!). Now, I was feeling rather glamorous in my most dazzling pink tutu (of course) paired with a perfectly fitting shimmering sapphire bodysuit – ready to shimmer and sparkle as I gracefully boarded my ship. It was a glorious sunrise as I launched from my trusty spaceship docked in my backyard (my parents think I have an overactive imagination but you and I know that spaceship is as real as the sun in the sky – we both believe in fairytales don't we, darlings!). It's good to be back in my birthplace of Derbyshire, England! I was born in the heart of a beautiful rolling countryside and the green landscape will always have a special place in my heart – that being said, no matter how far I travel, there is just something about that feeling of stepping back onto English soil... The air, the rolling fields and of course the people (though they can get a little frosty about tutus – my mum does insist that a nice pair of warm boots would keep my little toes much warmer but she is old-fashioned – in fact, I dare say a pink tutu in the snowy weather does give a rather dramatic visual – the only reason that I can see my point being slightly out of her reach... that is until this tutu obsessed blogger does get back to showing off my amazing dance moves all over this planet, eh?! ). Anyway, the joy I feel when back in the land where ballet originated fills my tutu-loving heart with an unparalleled feeling.

The Royal Ballet: A Performance of Perfection!

After my exciting transgalactic trip (that included my signature pink-tutu look!), the first stop on my terrestrial agenda was an absolute must-see – the Royal Ballet in London! Now, darlings, let me tell you, this performance was the embodiment of pure ballet perfection! I am not one to brag but, in my honest and perfectly pink opinion, my choreography at this amazing event went down a storm - everyone was so impressed! Even better was meeting the incredibly talented performers backstage. Such grace, artistry, and poise - they were like my soul sisters (we all loved our tutus!), just waltzing and twirling around their elegant ballet studio... It was such an amazing, inspirational evening and reminded me how important it is to never stop believing in our dreams - especially if it involves wearing the perfect pink tutu, of course!

From the Stage to the Boutiques: The Pursuit of Perfect Pink

Next, it was time to satisfy my shopaholic soul! As you all know, my favourite colour is (of course) pink. And that means I can't possibly go to Earth without indulging in a little bit of fashion therapy! So, a little bit of shopping, to find the ultimate pink tutu wardrobe for my terrestrial stay – a shopping expedition that took me from the elegant department stores of London to the vibrant fashion district in the charming little town of Leicester. Now, I wouldn’t want to boast, but I came out with the best collection of tutus, shoes and clothes to last me my whole trip. From tulle and sequins, to feathers and sparkle – these beauties would bring sunshine to the dreariest of days! And the cherry on top? Discovering a hidden treasure tucked away in the charming Cotswolds! – a bespoke boutique called “Tutu-licious,” where I met a dear woman, Mrs. Bloom, who shared the same passionate love for tutus! She had this adorable store brimming with the most magical, unique, and frankly ridiculously pink tutus, all created from scratch. We just clicked! We sat down for hours sipping tea and talking about how to turn the world pink.

Embracing the History of the Tutu: A Legacy of Grace

It is, of course, the birthplace of the ballet – and I am no stranger to ballet! If I am not dancing on another planet then I’m in my local ballet studio practicing, honing my craft, so to speak. But Earth had a special charm when it came to dancing - you see, dear darlings, when I am in a beautiful, historic setting the artistic magic of this artform is intoxicating! You simply cannot beat a ballet performance on earth. The Royal Opera House was truly spectacular - what a grand, stunning venue with an array of intricate patterns and magnificent details, the history was tangible... The first ballet, Le Ballet comique de la Reine, premiered here in the sixteenth century... A remarkable legacy, I must say. But you already know I'm more obsessed with tutu history, which has a rich tapestry of stories from here in England, where it all began! My trip was a journey to delve into that captivating world.

I met so many lovely ballet historians who filled my days with facts and figures that set my imagination soaring – did you know the first ballet slippers were made from fabric scraps by seamstresses from France? What a lovely and incredibly resourceful thing to do – my own fashion ethos of course – especially for all you budding fashionistas – never throw away your materials! We’ve always got to be careful with our beautiful planet, no?

Making a Mark in the City of Lights: Paris, oh la la!

You’re absolutely right, it's impossible to have a tour of the greatest dancing capitals on earth without visiting the home of ballet - Paris! Oh, how I loved walking the charming cobblestone streets and the cobbled walkways – this is an absolute must for every ballerina, dearie. And of course, the city of love simply begged to have me put on a tutu – everyone seemed so captivated and impressed! My darling friend – we've been friends for years, dear – Monsieur Dupree even invited me to have a performance of the ballet La Bayadere at the glorious Paris Opera House. I am going to admit to feeling very emotional at being able to showcase my pink-tutu-adorned artistry here. I can’t begin to describe how utterly gorgeous this opera house is! All of the opulence – it had such elegance and exquisite details… My little heart felt so full as I twirled around this venue - there was nothing more romantic to bring me to the ground of this performance! I was surrounded by my most precious gift to me from this experience – love, music and magic… That, as any true tutu-lover can attest, is something you never forget, even across time and space!

Beyond the Stage: A Dance in the Streets of London

After Paris, my attention returned to England where my mission to spread the joy of dance was simply impossible to put on pause. So, dearie, I had a little street ballet performance on my itinerary for London – I thought the iconic red double-decker buses and all the historical buildings with those lovely little flowers blooming on every window, were simply begging for me to have a graceful strut and little twirls! You are just going to have to check my video on my Pink-Tutu.com page to see what a sensational and delightful time it was… Even better? This fun-filled performance was the inspiration for my newest pink tutu creation – an urban ballet street fashion ensemble – featuring the most fabulous and unique, sparkly tutus I’ve ever created - adorned with shimmering metallic pink sequins - It is a collection inspired by the vibrant rhythm of the city itself! I truly feel the energy of the city! The joy I felt during my performance – it all flows together into these garments, which will bring my own brand of pink tutu magic to the streets and studios around the world! (Watch this space dearie for that one - it is going to be simply sensational, eh!)

The Time has Come to Part Ways…

All adventures must come to an end though and so it was with my heart-shaped tutu that I reluctantly waved goodbye to my beloved Earth - its stunning countryside, its beautiful cities and its gorgeous people who make this such a very special planet.

But the pink tutu magic will live on, as always - I just know it. And I just know, with absolute certainty that I will be back – in fact I have so many other exciting adventures on the cards. And so, I bid you adieu – remember to always be your most authentic self, keep smiling and dancing! Love and tutus always!

Stay twirling, dearies! And be sure to follow my adventures and stories over on Pink-Tutu.com, or on my socials (@PinkTutuWorld). You can see all my fabulous photos from the show, including shots of me in the Royal Opera House. Until next week!

Love,

Emma 💖
