Pink Tutu World: Post Number 447: Ballet on Planet Earth - 19th November 2003

Hello my darlings!

Welcome back to Pink Tutu World! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another dose of pink tulle and interstellar adventures! Today, I'm back on dear old Planet Earth, but I'm so excited to share some recent news and the amazing journey that's led me to this very moment.

This week, the universe has been a bit of a whirlwind! Just last Tuesday, I was twirling through the shimmering, amethyst skies of the Andromeda Galaxy. (Did you know there's a hidden tutu shop there? Totally fabulous!) On Wednesday, I was learning a traditional intergalactic dance from the Venusian Flower Fairies - think petal-light movements and an awful lot of glitter.

By Thursday, I was back on my trusty spaceship, "The Pink Swan", with a very special consignment of feather boas and diamanté hair combs - gifts for the local alien fashion show that's being held tonight. (You can bet I'll be dancing in a custom-made pink tutu on stage!) And here I am, finally back on dear old Planet Earth - where I happen to be writing this very blog post.

But before we get into the juicy details of what I've been up to, let's start as always with...

Fashion Finds

This week, the highlight of my sartorial finds is definitely the iridescent silver sequins I found in the Andromeda Galaxy - absolutely exquisite, with the faintest shimmer of blue. I snagged them for my next dance competition in the Orion Nebula - oh, the drama!

Then there's this magnificent lavender feather boa I've added to my collection - just perfect for a trip to the Neptunean Moon, where it seems "statement" is the key fashion mantra. And you can't have a trip to space without a few essential accessories, can you? My spaceship hold now contains some fabulous, holographic stilettos in a shimmering array of galactic colours (imagine a rainbow, but more fabulous).

And, of course, a trip back to Earth would not be complete without a trip to my favourite vintage tutu boutique in Nottingham. Let me tell you, my lovelies, I absolutely nailed it in there this week! My wardrobe is officially overflowing with vintage tutus of every hue: blushing peaches, fiery oranges, emerald greens, midnight blues and... my absolute favourite: a 1950s baby pink number that makes me feel like a sugar plum fairy! I've already designed a little routine around it, complete with a dramatic twirl ending (with extra fluff, naturally!)

So, the latest additions to my "Pink Tutu World" collection are making me absolutely beam! You see, when you wear a pink tutu, you literally see the world in a new light - full of colour, fun and, yes, maybe a bit of sparkly fluff.

Back to Earth

Speaking of colour and fun, my adventure back to Planet Earth is even more exciting than the shimmering silver galaxies and feather boas! The reason for my terrestrial return? My dearest mother's birthday! I’m sure all you earthly fashionistas will agree that the only way to celebrate such a momentous occasion is with an afternoon of... ballet, naturally!

What does this involve, you ask? Well, imagine a classic English afternoon tea, with freshly baked scones, finger sandwiches and a teapot filled with the finest Earl Grey - but with an extra sprinkle of ballet magic! We'll be seeing The Nutcracker at the Birmingham Hippodrome, and the ballet history geek in me is so excited! I've even planned a little ballet history tour for Mum after the show. Did you know The Nutcracker is over 120 years old? Absolutely fabulous!

This leads us on to what's on today...

Ballet on Planet Earth!

Speaking of ballet, my dears! I can't believe I'm saying this, but today is the anniversary of one of my all-time favourite performances! The Royal Ballet’s breathtaking production of Swan Lake , which I saw at the Royal Opera House back in 2003 - 19 years ago, how does time fly! I can still see every detail of that magical night: the opulent costumes, the dramatic sets, the stunning performance, the breathtaking choreography! But most importantly, the spirit of ballet!

As I watched the ballerinas grace the stage, the message resonated so clearly - we are all beautiful, powerful, and yes, perfectly capable of gliding across the world (or any galaxy, for that matter!), in a cloud of pink tulle! It’s a universal language, this beautiful art form!

And you know what? It makes me so happy to share this passion with you all, whether you're dancing under a neon sign in the Milky Way, or on a tiny, sunny patch of land on Planet Earth.

What I'm Wearing Today

Speaking of earthly pleasures, I absolutely had to treat myself to something special to celebrate being back on Planet Earth. My dearest Mum has a whole drawer filled with vintage clothes from her time at university, and let me tell you - I found myself an absolute dream! It's a baby pink satin dress, with tiny ruffles at the collar and matching baby pink velvet ribbon tied at the waist. I've paired it with a delicate pink tulle skirt, with a vintage pearl brooch at the back for extra sparkle. This dress exudes pure English charm, and with this look, I'm ready to conquer the Earth (or the galaxy, whatever's happening!).

The only accessory I'm missing is a giant, pink tutu to celebrate, of course! And where else would I get my fix but my favourite place on Earth - "Tutus & Tea" in Derby. It's a place with endless inspiration, with a collection of vintage and modern tutus to rival the most glamorous galaxies! I even found a little sparkly top hat for this trip! And did I mention their divine scones? This really is the most fabulous place in Derbyshire!

And as you know, darling, a pink tutu is not just a piece of clothing; it’s a symbol, a manifestation of joy, fun and fabulousness!

So, what will I be up to today, my lovely blog followers? Well, aside from indulging in all the delights that Planet Earth has to offer, I'll also be working on my next spaceship performance: "Pink Tutu Galaxy Express"! My new intergalactic routine, based on the vibrant energy of all those different planetary fashions I've seen on my journeys! Imagine, dancing across the galaxies in a shimmering dress made of stardust with holographic, silver sequins! Can you picture it?

Time To Twirl!

Well, my darlings, it’s time for me to get ready! My mother’s waiting! Remember: every day is a dance, every minute a chance to wear pink, and most importantly - have fun!

Emma 💖✨
