Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu clad ballerina, back from a whirlwind trip to Planet Earth! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means – time for another post on www.pink-tutu.com. 🩰✨
This week, I'm bursting with excitement to share my latest adventure: ballet on Planet Earth! I’ve always loved Earth’s history with ballet – from its humble beginnings to its grand stages, the story of ballet on this planet is nothing short of incredible! And now, thanks to my fabulous spaceship, I got to see it all first hand. 🤩
This week, it was time to journey to Derbyshire, a little slice of heaven nestled right in the heart of England. As a proud Derbyshire girl myself, this was a trip close to my heart. And of course, I had to bring a new pink tutu along! 😉
Speaking of pink tutus, before we delve into the wonders of Derbyshire ballet, I wanted to mention a little something. Remember how I'm on a mission to get everyone in the universe wearing a pink tutu? Well, this week, a lovely Earthian called Susan emailed me with an amazing idea. 💌 She said she's starting a “Pink Tutu Wednesdays” initiative! Every Wednesday, she encourages all her friends and colleagues to wear pink tutus – even just at work! Can you imagine the glorious sight?! It’s brilliant, don't you think? Susan's going to send me pictures, and we can celebrate this wonderful new trend together here on www.pink-tutu.com. 💕
Anyway, let's get back to Derbyshire! My trip to this enchanting region started with a trip to the Peak District, known for its breathtaking scenery and rugged landscapes. But I didn’t forget about ballet, no sirree! My first stop was the Buxton Opera House, a beautiful Art Deco masterpiece. I mean, just look at this picture – absolutely stunning, right?!

Inside the Opera House, I was greeted by a lively ballet performance. The dancers were incredible, their leaps and turns were simply breathtaking. It reminded me how much ballet truly unites the human spirit! They even had a beautiful “The Nutcracker” performance – I nearly burst with delight when the sugar plum fairies twirled on stage! 💖
But it wasn’t just the ballet performances that captured my attention. The history behind it was just as captivating! Did you know that the Buxton Opera House played host to legendary ballet figures like Margot Fonteyn? This place is simply brimming with history, making every step you take a walk back in time.
But Derbyshire isn't just about classical ballet. It's also a hub for exciting street performance and contemporary dance! In fact, on my second day, I visited the Chesterfield town centre and saw the most delightful flash mob of ballerinas! It's funny, they all seemed to be wearing pink! It seems the message is getting out, even on this little corner of Earth! 🌍🩰
Now, you've heard about the performances and the history, but what about the shops? It goes without saying, my favourite pastime on this trip was shopping for clothes! Now, don’t judge me, but Derbyshire is a true haven for vintage clothing! Imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon a shop with an array of beautiful, vintage tutus – they were absolutely breathtaking! They’ve got real character, haven't they? Each tutu was more magnificent than the next, and they felt like tiny pieces of history. I mean, just look at this vintage beauty!

To my delight, the shop even had some pink tutus. Oh, I do love finding pink tutus - a good vintage find makes any trip that much better! 😍
Now, the trip to Derbyshire wasn't just about tutus and ballet. I also explored its incredible countryside! Picture this: a charming cobblestone street, lined with cozy cafes, vibrant shops and ancient pubs, all nestled in a lush valley with rolling hills. It felt like a fairytale! But even in such a peaceful setting, ballet found its way! I watched a group of children, dressed in adorable pink tutus, take a ballet class right on the main square. Isn’t that lovely?
I can truly say this was a perfect trip. Ballet, vintage finds, amazing scenery, charming cafes – what more could a girl ask for? And while I'm back on my spaceship, I'm already planning my next trip! This time, it's off to Italy. 🇮🇹
Yes, I have some exciting Italian adventures in store! Who knows, I might even see the “La Scala Ballet Company” or “Ballet della Scala” perform there – they’re simply breathtaking! Or perhaps, I’ll find some charming vintage shops overflowing with amazing Italian fashions.
Stay tuned my dears! My planet Earth blog will be bursting with colourful updates, delicious food adventures, and, of course, the most spectacular tutus! 💖
And remember, always wear a pink tutu! Even just to work, on Wednesday, with Susan's wonderful initiative! 😊
Until next week!
Much love and happy twirling!
Emma xoxo
*PS: * This week's fun fact is... The first ballet on planet earth was actually a small piece performed for the court of Louis XIV in 1661! Just think of how far ballet has come since then.
